Several Genreal Questions in one Thread!!!

Recommended Posts

Ok. I have a couple threads out there and it is hard to try to keep track of them all so I thought I would ask a few questions in one place. I feel like these are general and may help lots of newbies. Any answers/advice is appreciated.

1. How do you know if something gets stuck and if it does, how do you dislodge it? How small should a pill be to swallow it whole without having to mash it up?

2. Why are we suddenly gassy after eating when that wasn't a problem before and why can't I burp AT ALL?

3. I am running on willpower now with my food intake. I am eating things that I should but I am having no problems keeping things down. Am I normal to not have PB and slime problems?

I guess that should be good for now. Thanks a bunch and I hope this helps out others too. I know I have many more questions but I can't think if 'em right now. Thanks again!

Hey, Welcome.

1. I was told no pill larger than an M&M

2. I don't know the answer to this one. I went from no burping to constant loud burping.

3. I'm the same as you. My diet calls for 4 oz meals and I stop at 4 oz, but most of the time, I'm practically licking the plate and would eat more if fear and sanity didn't stop me. Getting my first fill 2/15.

When were you banded?

Hope this helps.

Getting stuck for me was just sudden major pain right in my sternum or just below the soft spot where your ribs meet. It was awful. DO NOT drink Water to wash it down. It won't help. Walk. Raise your hands over your head and be patient. When the food finally passed through my band, I could literally feel it. It was wierd. I don't recommend eating solid food afterwards.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
