Hey Guys

Recommended Posts

I am new here and go under the knife this Friday (1-25-08). Only major concern at this point is I have to be back to work on Monday. A little concerned about discomfort of port around belt line. Is it possible to ask the Dr. ahead of time to place the port where it will not interfere with belt line?

Mornin' Geo,

It was my impression the port was placed higher up??? I wouldnt think it would be placed down around the belt line due to wear on it??? I'm going in Feb. 5th so I actually dont know for sure I'm sure other guy's on here would, but I would sure find out "before" surgery.

Good luck to ya and keep us posted how your doing. Steve

My port is much higher than that. It's above the naval on the left hand side.

Talk to your doc and tell him what you need, he works for you

My port is about six inches above and left of the naval.

I had surgery on a Wednesday (1/31/07) and went in to my business on Saturday to catch up. I was going to go in Friday, but my wife had my keys with her at work so I justified another day off. You shouldn't have a problem with a Friday surgery and going to work Monday.

I think some people do have problems and some have to stay home if they have a hang-nail.

Good luck.

Bruce

I was out for 2 weeks, but HR mandated that due to some short-term disability for surgery. I don't understand it, but who am I to argue with an extra paid vacation? Realistically, I was under the weather for about 4-5 days after the surgery, but could have gone back to my desk job earlier.

None of mine was near the belt line, most all my 5 cuts was all located in mid stomach area. My port is easy to find... right below last left rib.

If you are working at a desk then you should be fine at work but when I had surgery I didnt go to work for 3days and everything seem fine except when I was lifting something without think and was hurting.

Area that mostly bugged me was port, it kept pushing forward and you can feel it when you walk and when you hold it in, it felt alot better. so i wrapped that area up and it help alot.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
