Help Me I Feel Like a Failure

Recommended Posts

Okay here is a moment of honesty. Is there anyone out there that did not follow the diet exactly after surgery? I haven’t been following my post op diet the best, and everyone one else on here is like oh I’m day 11 doing the mushies like my doctors said. And I put this in the blender and this in the blender and me on the other hand I used my new food processor once and that was the time I got sick. So yea is there anyone else out that’s having problems sticking to the post op diet?

I was on the liquid diet till my one week post op visit and he said I could start on smashed up foods and then a week later meats (well chewed). I'm 3 weeks out and am eating anything I want as long as I chew well. A friend who had hers done the same day as mine is having a hard time eating solid foods. Everyone is different. Just do what you can to be comfortable and let yourself heal.

Ms. Toya I am almost a month out and this week I have been eating bigger portions & even had a few things that were not healthy. I am trying so hard to get back to following all the rules. I hope a fill will help because my will power is low. Dont feel like a failure, you are human! Just keep trying!! Good luck.

Well, when I read Is there anyone out there that did not follow the diet exactly after surgery?" I was ready to say heck yeah... but now that I see you're referring to the time immediately following surgery, no. I was too afraid of the consequences not to follow it. One time by mistake (hubby made my dinner and meant well, but added something not in the plan), but that's it. I was to the dot other than that.

What's the trouble? Are you needing more quantity than you're allowed? Are you unable to say no to cravings, and eating other categories of food than what's allowed? etc.

i dont know Wheetsin. I dont think I have a problem with quanity because I dont eat as much as I use too but I still feel like i am eating to much. I get full fast but I also get hungry fast after a meal. 1 week out and I had Soup for the first 3 or 4 days. But like yesterday for example I had 3 lil chicken drumettes and like 1 or 2 tablespoons of green Beans, a protien shake, and for dinner I had a chicken wing and a couple forks of green beans. during the day i got hunger so I snacked on the green beans. But I dont know I just feel like I am eating to much, I am not even soppuse to be eating solids according to the book my dr. gave me.

I followed the 2 weeks after surgery of liquid to a T. When mushies started, I was good for about 5 days, but then I had Chili from Wendys and some fried rice from the Chinese restaurant, and it hurt, so I went back to blended mushy stuff.

I had some KFC hot wings last night, no skin, and I chewed the chicken like 20 times and was full with no pain. I am 10 days into the mushy phase.

Crisann, I commend you on your hard work and I'm in no way passing judgement so please don't take it that way...But if you are going to stray from the plan wouldn't you feel better about it if you stayed away from fast food. You mentioned Wendy's and KFC and I just think to myself, it is these places that got me in trouble in the first place. Aren't you anxious to break the fast food cycle? I'm only asking because this will be my hardest accomplishment. I'm going to try and stay far far away from it for as long as possible.

Why don't you Google lap band erosion and slippage and read about the risks you are taking? I'm not saying this in a smart alecky way; fear is what kept me on the straight and narrow, and maybe it will work for you. Good luck; it's a difficult period to get through.

Ironically enough, I was NEVER a fast food person. I though the chili would be good during the mushy phase, as I ran it through the Magic Bullet, but it didn't sit well.

The fried rice was a moment of weakness, and it didn't sit well either.

The KFC, I actually went for the mashed potatoes, 120 calories, 4.5g fat, and they were out, so I got 3 wings, pulled off the skin and shredded the chicken.

I don't know what has gotten into to me since I could count on one hand the number of times I had been in a fast food restaurant in 5 years, and here, 2 in two weeks.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
