I finally got the results from my sleep apnea test and I have mild sleep apnea, so I'm not sure if that is good enough. My PCP is doing another round of blood work on me and said I would be a good candidate for LAP-BAND®...eventually I will have comorbity. He said he would write a letter for me if I need one. I think I am going to start the process and keep my fingers crossed.

I have mild sleep apnea too and my bmi was 35. My sleep doctor said I did not need a C-Pap but I asked him to prescribe one anyway. I picked it up but never used it. I just wanted to have it for the record. Anyway my insurance approved it and now I am having surgery on March 24. Good luck to you. I know waiting was the hardest part for me.

That's good to hear. Did you have any other comorbities?

I wish insurances could give a staight answer! I just don't want to have to go through fighting with the insurance. Wow...your surgery is in a few days. Good luck!!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
