Megmarie21 0 Posted January 23, 2008 Does anyone know a good website to get plus size exercise clothes and supportive workout bras from?
rharriet62 0 Posted January 23, 2008 Junonia.com, Danskin.com, JustMySize.com, and Champion has a lot of plus size workout clothes, too. I am tall enough that I often buy the men's shirts and they work great, too. I have even seen quite a few workout clothes in plus sizes at Walmart and Target. My favorite (heavy duty and supportive) sports bras are made by Moving Comfort. They support you even if you run and I was like a 44DDD and am now a 40DD. They are about $40 each but wear and last a long time. Totally worth it if you need support! If you can get to stores that sell Columbia clothes, you can often find workout clothes in 2 or 3X that go up to a 22-24 and they are very nice, too. I don't know what size you are, but that gives you an idea!
marathinner 1 Posted January 23, 2008 I can tell you after training for and completing a marathon a 240 pounds that my GOD SEND was my sports bra!! It was a contraption of such epic proportions I'm pretty sure NASA manufacturers it....LOL!! The brand in Enell and you can get it online or at a running specialty store. Seriously, the "girls" were locked and loaded and this made my running soooo much easier!! Good luck!!
Jachut 487 Posted January 23, 2008 Yes, a good bra is a must. Dont really have much advice on where to buy plus size clothes as I'm in another country, but a word of encouragement - keep going, because when you can finally waltz into any store and buy a pair of tiny running shorts and actually WEAR them in public, that is one great feeling! OH Juli 15 Posted January 23, 2008 enell is a great brand and titlenine has some fantastic bras, depending on what size you are at. I found Target and Walmart run small and have very few 2X. I struggled when I was bigger than that, but Juonia, and Avenue came through in a pinch. Keep up the good work!
Leena 108 Posted January 23, 2008 My advice on work out wear is Wal-Mart. They always have plus sizes. I think the plus sizes run big as i can fit into their 16Ws in workout pants but am in no way a 16, more like a 20. But their 20Ws are way too big. I'm waiting for them to put out their capri work out pants, especially the plain ones, as I can't see myself wearing ones that say juicy or hot stuff on the butt. baby ruth 1 Posted January 23, 2008 I also highly recommend enell bra....the girls don't move!!! For me that was so important because I hated a lot of exercises because of the bounce. They can be a little pricey but well worth it. I have bought some capris at Walmart and different places and they are ok, but I have trouble finding matching outfits to wear to the gym...like all those little girls wear. I do wear some regular elastic waisted shorts and wear compression shorts(from the mens dept. 'because they are longer) under them to keep my legs from rubbing. The walmart here has a very limited selection on plus sizes and even less of a selection of work out wear. Hope this helps.:wink2:
