I'd not worry yet. Gastritis can be caused by a number of things. So, if you drink....stop.

Many have an irritation of the stomach lining and don't even know it....and it's just that...an irritation/inflamation. You didn't mention anything else such as infection, ulcers, etc.

Just take care of yourself, watch what you ingest...and leave it up to the doc.

no, i dont drink. I have been taking ibuprofen for about a year because of an accident i was in. i think that might be the culprit, but if i stop taking them what will i do for pain?

This is from the Internet, but it's accurate and saves me the typing:

Gastritis

Gastritis is not a single disease, but several different conditions that all have inflammation of the stomach lining. Gastritis can be caused by drinking too much alcohol, prolonged use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as aspirin or ibuprofen, or infection with bacteria such as Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori). Sometimes gastritis develops after major surgery, traumatic injury, burns, or severe infections. Certain diseases, such as pernicious anemia, autoimmune disorders, and chronic bile reflux, can cause gastritis as well.

I had gastritis following a surgery a few months ago. More specifically I had a severe infection of the lower intestine. So it can be associataed in all directions.

Have you tried non-ibuprofen pain relievers?

A generic step in the right direction with gastrities is to stop anything known to be an offender, and have 2 - 3 days of Clear liquids.
