Hey DeLarla,

I'm still new to all of this.....been reading/posting for about a month or so. I'll be banded this Monday. I love reading your posts jammed packed with your quick wit.

The reason I am writing is this: I'll be in Las Vegas attending a conference April 24-26. I remember reading that you live there, does anyone else? Thought maybe we could get together in my off time? I won't be able to attend the Big Bash y'all are planning....but would love to meet anyone that's close to the area.

Daisypooh, I don't know how I missed this thread. It should have showed under "New Posts" but I never saw it. I'm always happy to meeting new Bandsters. Just think, this time next week you'll be on the road to recovery! I wrote the date in my calendar, and I look forward to seeing you! Good luck with your surgery.

Great, I've been renamed along with Jammin'....Leave it to DeLarla. Daisypooh...wait til I tell my hubby that I'm going to be a "breath of fresh air" to be around!

Is it really as bad as you all say...the gas????

Lisa, who else (if any) on the board are from your area? I'll be starting REAL food the week I go to LV. Scary!

I love the name Daisy Doodle. There's nobody else from this board in Vegas, but there is a small Vegas board. I've only met a couple of really nice girls, but I don't know them well. I could ask them if they wanted to meet for lunch while you're here though, my little Pooh Pooh.

The gas is really bad, but mine aren't usually of the offensive nature. They're loud but usually non-toxic.

I think that it would be great to meet for lunch. I've enjoyed reading your posts so much. And don't worry----nothing you've ever written has OFFENDED me! But if you have a major BLOW OUT while we are in public that might be a different story! :)

Daisy, the pen is mightier than the sword... I don't air dirty laundry in public! Well, unless I'm drunk, but I'm a happy drunk so you have nothing to fear.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
