I was banded on 1/14 and am feeling great! I am just a little sore in the tummy but have lost 13 pounds and am back to work and doing great. Is it unusual to feel this good. I have had no issues eating or drinking the protien shakes.

Congratulations on the quick recovery. Surgery is never "easy" but I too kept shaking my head at how quickly I recovered. I'd had my gallbladder removed laproscopically a year or so before my band and thought I was doing great to be back to work within 4 days. But my recovery from the band surgery was leaps and bounds easier than even that. I did take nearly a week off more than anything to give myself a break from the emotional triggers to want to eat that work gave me while I was still on the liquid phase of my post surgery diet. But for weeks I kept walking around waiting for the proverbial other shoe to drop and for the "real" recovery struggles to kick in.

I am glad that I am not the only one...You are excatly right....I am walking on pin and needles waiting for the "real" recovery. I should just feel blessed that I feel so good. :rolleyes2: I am still on liquids, but I can hang with 99% fat free Cream of chicken Soup everyday....it is so good. Thanks for your feedback

Congratulations on your loss so far. I too was banded on Jan. 15th. I am doing really well too. I hope to go back to work on Thurs. I have to see if I can get a release from my Dr., the eating is going good too. I too am really loving the creamy Soups, lots of Jello, and popsicles. I have had a few Protein Shakes, but only if I feel really hungry. I am really impressed with how well the soreness in tummy has diminished.

Good luck to you. Sounds like you are doing great.

I'm still thinking about having the lapband. I just looked on the web and you are the first person I have read their blog.

I had my surgery on 1/8 and have yet to have a pain. I keep waiting for the pain to start! I have more energy than I did at 17 (this is what my Mom says) and can't wait to get started at 24 hour fitness.

I just can't believe how easy this has been so far.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
