I originally was banded in 1999 and lost about 140 pounds, I've gained back about 30 so not too bad. I did have a slip and re-banding in 2003 or so and since that re-banding I have had no fill at all. See I have trouble keeping good food down. You would think I would have lost a ton of weight but it just slowly creeps up. I have to eat super slow and I don't get to eat a lot of volume. I know that's the point but I have no fill in my band. My guess is I have another slip. Even though I have insurance that will cover most of the stuff, I still can't really seem to find a doctor that will see me because my band was put in in Mexico.

Truthfully at this point I just want the damned thing out. I'm totally stuck with it though. I'm sick of dealing with the vomiting, the reflux, now I"m getting chest pains as of tonight. Pain after eating. All with ZERO fill. I know, I've checked. It's dry as a bone in there and has been for over 4 years. I' ve been dealing with this daily since then.

I wonder if I complain loudly about my gallstones (which I have but don't cause me much discomfort) I could convince them to take the band out at the same time... I feel like a ticking time bomb. I wonder what kind of damage this is doing to my esophagus.

Can't you go back to your doctor in Mexico? I see mine for fills because I live in Arizona, but it seems if you are having this much dissatisfaction with your band, it would be worth a flight back down to your doctor. Have you seen any doctor at all since your rebanding?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
