Sushi!!!

Recommended Posts

So last night I went to Sushi for the first time since banding and it was awesome!!! I always sit at the sushi bar and I asked the sushi chef if I could order cut rolls with no rice (not on my post-op diet for 6 months) and they said I could no problem... so I got my favorite cut roll that comes with cooked crab and shimp, avocado and cucumber wrapped in seaweed (I didn't eat the seaweed...) with raw tuna and salmon on top... OMG it was so delicious! I want to go everyday now. And it is such a great way to get protein! YUMM YUMM YUMM!

We have a new Sushi place called the Blue C. It's one of those that has a conveyer belt that runs around the place with plates of different things you can take, then when you are done they total up the plates, prices vary based on the color of the plate. It's a bandsters dream IMHO. They have seared tuna, edamame, Nigiri with a small amount of rice in proportion to the fish, and other yummy things. The servings are small, two pieces of nigri, or 3 slices of tuna, and I love that I can have just a little, not have a bunch of leftovers to pay for and it's healthy and fun.

I <heart> Sushi.

I've never foudn a place that would insist on using rice, even the stupid sushi places at the grocery store.

If you find the nori hard to deal with, ask for bean paper (it pretty much dissolves away) OR go with sashimi.

I <heart> sashimi.

If you're at home, just get a nice cut of yellowfin, blot dry (press hard) with papertowels. Dash some soy on. Slice on a bias in very thin strips. Then just add whatever you prefer and enjoy. This has become one of my favorite meals, pending I can find a good piece of yellowfin (not too easy since I'm in the Midwest).

We just found Sushi Revolution in Tacoma, another new conveyor belt/pay-by-the-plate restaurant. We went last week, once before I was off mushies (I had lots of tofu in my miso soup) and once after I started solids. The second time I had 4 plates in front of me (I chose edamame, tamago, and the insides of four pieces of crab rolls). My 5-y.o. daughter had 7 plates (four of hers were cream puffs!) and my son, who is called "Sushi Boy!" at numerous local sushi joints, had twelve! Total cost was around $35 - gotta like that!

One of my concerns about lapband was whether I would be able to enjoy sushi ever again - I'm glad to say I can!

Blue C sounds cool, never seen a place like that.

They have 3 locations now in and around Seattle WA. I think the concept is in other areas also, different names. There is a name for the type of resturant, I'll look for it and post it, you could search on that for your area?

Yum, that sounds good! If I'm down that way, I'll have to stop in.

Yeah if you find one that I can search for in alabama let me know, I can't think of any restaurants around here like that unless it's some place I didn't know about.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
