3rd Fill And Irritated!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

 OKAY..... I just had my third fill and i STILL don't notice any difference!! I am getting so frustrated! I have been at a stand still with the weight loss since the first fill and on top of that I have been exercising and I am still not losing. Starting to wonder if I even had the surgery LOL Anybody else going through this????????????????????????? :wink2:

I have had 4 adjustments now since my surgery in Dec '06. Every time it seemed like nothing changed. After the first 11 lbs I lost after surgery, nothing happened, then I gained back 7 in the last 5 months (I was hungry and could eat more). This time when she tightened it another 1.5cc (the other 3 were 1cc each) I noticed the difference right away. I had the adjustment done 3 days ago and I still feel tight and it still hurts to swallow (especially cold, warm is better). I can get my pills, soft foods and really chewed (to mush) pretzels or crackers down. Drinking still hurts, but it goes down, I am sticking to liquids and super soft (FF cottage cheese, yogurt would probably be OK too, but I can't eat yogurt, allergic) for now. I have lost 8 lbs since the adjustment. Now I hope I keep going in the right direction, I feel like finally it is adjusted!!!!!

I was banded just a few days before you - feeling much the same thing - except I've got the LARGE band which is taking a while to get to the "sweet spot" which I still don't think i'm there (3rd fill last week).

We're just in that annoyingly painful early stages where we're not in our restricted points yet. Hang in there - it will get better I hope!

Yes! I feel exactly the same as you.My fills were #1- 1.5 cc's #2-1.5cc's #3-1.5cc's and #4-(today)2cc's so I am up to 6.5 cc's now and am on Clear Liquids so I don't know if I will have any restriction yet. After fill #3 (total of 4.5cc's) I had hardly any restriction. The nurse practitioner who did my fill gave me a nice pep talk as I went in there ready to shoot someone out of frustration. He used the example that the lap band is like an airplane - you are trying to reach cruising altitude and it can take a while to get there but once you do it is pretty smooth sailing. If it takes too long (in your opinion) to reach cruising altitude you do not jump out of the plane! You just keep plugging away and get yourself there. It can take five fills or even more to reach cruising altitude so don't jump out of the plane yet! That kind of made sense to me. I still wish I reached cruising altitude after 3 fills, (or 1 would have been even better!) but I guess what he said made sense! I feel your pain!!!

Oh Ladies, I sympathize... this initial few months with multiple adjustments is time consuming and frustrating!!!!

WHERE is the WEIGHTLOSS that we were promised!!!????

Oh drat, oh dread! I know that the band is adjustable but I didn't think that this meant that I had to be "adjustable" too in my anticipation! :)

I am 6 mos. since banding and still don't have proper restriction. I just ate 1 cup of Broccoli/cauliflower salad, 4 oz. of Pork Tenderloin for supper. It was delicious.

This is WAY more than a bandster should be able to eat, although it is still considerably LESS than what I would have eaten pre-band days...

Patience is a virtue.

I was banded in June, Lost 30 lbs between pre and iimmediate postop period, and have been stuck between 230-235 for about 3 months. Have had 3 adjustments so far, and have a dr's appt this Thursday. I agree, it's so frustrating...though I can definitely say I'm starting to feel restriction. I think just a tad more of a fill and I'll be there, and hope to see the weight loss really kick in.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
