When I was talking about it everyone was happy for me and "supported" me. Then when I got the approval there have been some that have made comments and I just tell them that this is not for them that this is for me.

I even had my regional office manager tell people that she will not be surprised that I lose the weight, leave my boyfriend and start sleeping around! I have never had a problem with "men" I was married for 9 years and now I am in a very HAPPY realstionship for over 4 years now.

If this startes to happen to you....keep your head up and remember this is for YOU and not any one else!

My surgery is in 2 days 1/23/08.

I only told ONE person at work and my close family......

Mom: overweight too...... waited to see if it would work, now wishes her insurance would pay

Sister: always the thin one....... very happy for me, but is starting to become a little depressed with her own weight and wishes she could get banded (she's 159 lbs)

DH: was skeptical that I would ever be satisfied with 1 cup of food... now he raises his eyebrows when I finish a taco and go for two! LOL

He was constantly on me to get an unfill when I couldn't eat anything besides Soup. He had a hard time watching me eat so little, but he's gotten better

Coworkers: notice that I'm losing, but simply thing that I'm back on plan with LowCarb since they've watched me go up and down the scale several times.

I'm sure that when I open it up for discussion....... I will get questions... and negative feedback, but the results dont lie...... I'm walking around in my size 12's........... a far cry from the 24's that I couldn't zip any longer...

I LOVE MY BAND!

Hi all,

I was wondering the same thing. Most of my friends and family have been supportive. I'm just womdering what it will be like to be close to goal. I can just see the comments coming "you're too skinny now, is anything wrong?" "you've lost too much weight and look sick" "don't you think you are taking it too far?". Well, of course when I am the size of a cow and suddenly look like a normal human being, I'm going to look too skinny, even with a BMI in the healthy weight range!

Alot of people in my family were happy at first but now that i have lost 75 pounds they have started saying that i need to stop but i know what i need and i think that you should know what is right for your body and self. Just worry about you and God and you will be fine.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
