No weight loss, weight gain

Recommended Posts

I was banded March 2007. I have not only not lost any weight, I've gained 3lbs over the past 10 months. I have been filled to the max. I don't eat much, let's be honest, I can't. I can't even eat the 4 oz portions suggested. Yes, I'm eating the right foods. I work out 3 to 5 days a week at least 1 hour to 2 hours each time. I was considered a low BMI on the lapband scale but still enough of a BMI to get the surgery covered by insurance. I'm frustrated and disappointed. Isn't there anyone out there that has had this happen? What's wrong with me?

Weight was 179 now 183. I have no idea if I'm getting enough Protein. Dr. and I have never discussed it. Band too tight for any kind of meat to go down except very crisp bacon if I absolutely feel the need for meat. I can and do eat peanuts. I drink instant Breakfast every now and again and it says it has recommended amount of protein in it. Any suggestions?

You got approved by your inc @179? Did you have HBP, Dibitic or sleep apnia?

Are you weighing at the same time ever day with the same amout of clothing on/off? Or eating to much salt will also make a dif on the scales. Also will gaining muscle which you shold be doing with your work outs.

I was diabetic and sleep apnea. According to the test done on my arm every month I'm not gaining muscle either. I have an inactive thyroid but take medication for it and have even had it upped a little to see if that's the problem. The diabetes and the sleep apnea are gone now but I had truly hoped to lose weight. I just can't believe that I'm the only person that this has ever happened to. I'm going to try the Protein to see if that is part of the problem. Got any other suggestions?

Well seams you are doing all the correct things, one good thing is that you have gotten rid of sleep apnea and dibetic, so that is a BIG PLUS, and maybe now that your body is heald of that the weight loss will come now.

See if the Protein helps and watch your carbs and salts and any hidden sugars you may be getting. From what I have heard and everyone is different on the loss it just may take you longer with a inactive thyroid.

Good luck and not sure if helps or not but I would like to be at your weight.

It sounds to me like you need to have a slight unfill, and a very frank conversation with your surgeon about what you are doing now (diet and exercise), and what can be changed to help you start losing weight.

I have only lost 10 pounds and I am very unhappy with my band also. My thyroid is underactive also and I just started on thyroid meds. The meds have made me feel better, but have not helped with weight loss. I eat so little and exercise, but the scales do not move.

what you need to do is mesure yourself most of the time

when you combine diet and work out you gain muscle first

then eventually you will star losing weigh so at this point what you need to

do is stay away from the scale and use mesure Hope this will help

No, you are not the only one experiencing your problem. I had my surgery Feb. '06. I just went in a couple of days ago and found out that I actually weigh 1 lb. more than I did the day of surgery. It's been such a frustrating ride. At one point I had lost about 60 lbs.and 3 dress sizes. Now the weight is just coming back with vengence. I have actually managed to gain 17 lbs. in one month!!! So, please don't be discouraged by just 3 lbs. This thing is so finiky. Sometimes I am really happy with my decision to do the surgery but sometimes I really wish that I would have just gone to the extreme and done the gastric bypass. All I can say is stay strong and focused on your goals. Just having the lap band isn't a miracle fix. It still takes a lot of work...eating right and excercising. If you continue to gain weight, I would suggest going back to your doctor and talking to him about it. It could be something going on in your body that maybe some bloodwork could help find. I know I'm hypothyroid. Once I got my thyroid in line, I lost 20 lbs in only a few weeks before I even went into surgery. Also, you might take some time to talk to a nutritionist and see if they have any suggestions. I just want you to know that you are definately not alone. Good luck! You'll be buying new clothes in no time. :crying:

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
