Foot pain...get better after lapband??

Recommended Posts

I was wondering how many of you out there have had problem with your feet and pain and if so, does it get better after you start to lose? For me, the worst part of being overweight has always been the foot pain. I am not a diabetic but suffer from some neuropathy and occasional bouts of plantar fasciitis. I just need to hear that there will be some relief from these aches and pains. PLEASE????:girl_hug:

I was diabetic for 25 years and have neropathy in my feet and left hand. The only pain I have left in my hand is in my little finger; the constant pain in my feet is gone but they are still numb on the bottom and do hurt sometimes, but nothing like they did for years and years before losing weight. I am off all diabetic meds (and all my 11 other meds, too) but I know there is permanent damage done to my feet. But it's much improved and I am grateful every day that I can now walk and can tolerate shoes on my feet. Best wishes to you, sweetie!!

Thank you so much for asking the question. I also have plantar fasciitis and I'm tired of wearing ugly shoes with orthotics. I'm also tired of cutting short shopping sprees because I was in pain!

Foot pain gone completely. Went to Disney world for Thanksgiving, and had no problem walking, and walking, and walking. You get the picture. I had done the Disney thing Christmas 2006, and had tons of trouble with feet - knees.

Oh, heavens, yes. I hadn't even thought of this until you brought it up. I do tons of walking now - no problem. I haven't had to stand in one spot for too long, though, so who knows how that would be. But I would definitely have my moments when being out with DH that my feet would get tired - I'd be sick of walking, etc. OR, after a night of working (and not even walking half as much as I do now) I would get home and the plantar fasciitis would be hurting so bad. My heel would just ACHE. Like I said - I hadn't even thought about it, but my feet don't hurt at all. It's really nice. I don't mind standing around at all. I used to be able to stand for a few minutes and then if I had a choice, I'd get my rear sat down ASAP. Now I'm surprised at how long I really can stand. So, yeah - weight loss dramatically improves this aspect.

I am with you, Weightisover! I have the same problem with plantar fasciitis (I have no idea how to spell that). I have a lot of heel pain at the bottoms of my heels, too. It makes exercising really hard. I am hoping that as I lose weight that will go away, thanks for asking the question!

My plantar fasciatis is gone. I have however got another new foot pain now..........ugh (up under my toes on the ball of my right foot). I have lost 82 pounds, but I think the plantar fasciatis was gone after about 30 pounds and I haven't had a problem since.

I have clients with PF and they find great relief with massage.

Tell your MT about your foot pain. If you go to a sports or NMT specialist they will help.

Massage used WITH conventional therapies helps enormously.

If you can't get to a Massage Therapist there are things you can do at home.

Stretching gasrtocnemius(calves) and soleus(under calves) is very important.

Backsleepers, UNTUCK your sheets at the foot of the bed. Tight sheets will keep you in plantar flexion which will make the mornings HELL to wake up and walk if you have PF.

IF YOU AREN'T DIABETIC, warm foot soaks in a foot massager/bath work great.

Throw some golfballs in the freezer and while sitting, woll them under your feet.

Get a loved one to strip your feet!!(after warming up the feet with a few rubs, take a knuckle and run lengthwise from toes to heel) do this on the entire sole surface. "Cup" and squeeze the heel at the sides.

I have PF AND a calcaneal fracture. I feel your pain.

I can resolve the pain in one of my feet, the other I have had steroid injections. It helped for a few weeks. I SHOULD be on a boot but I cannot wear one at work.

Any weightloss will help foot pain.

 Here is an illustration of a great calf stretch.

Hi Weightisover:

I can't believe how much better my feet feel. I had terrible heel pain and had to take naproxen every day but they still hurt. Now I hardly ever have any foot pain and I walk 4 to 5 miles per day +. I used to get numb on the top of my left leg if I had to stand for long, or even if I laid on my back for more than a few minutes and that numbness is totally gone.

It's amazing how much improvement there's been with the weight lost.

Best wishes for less foot pain to you.

Sue

I have Rheumatoid Arthritis in my feet and hands. My feet don't hurt at all now. I'm a little stiff in the mornings but I'm no longer miserable. I can wear heels and walk or stand forever

Good luck with the footsies!!

This is just the best thread. I'm so glad I will feel feminine again with heels once the weight is off. Thank you to all who have posted.

I still have heel pain off and on, but it is GREATLY improved, and I am hoping it will completely disappear when I reach goal.

In the meantime though, I found some great supports at Wal-Mart. It is a loop, I guess is the best way to describe it, of stiff elastic. It is about 2 inches wide. You just slip it on your foot.

Between those, good inserts and stretching exercises - I am good to go!

Take care,

Joanne

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
