well i had my lapband done on feb. 17, 2005 at the molding clinic in Tijuana, it was the best expereince one could have. i am from california and i was very nervous about the procedure being done so far from home, but when the patient cooridnator(andres betencourt) made contact with me he made me feel like he knew me for years. i asked for references and they were given to me with no hesitation. the molding clinic is a very ,very clean hospital, and the doctors are very profesional and have an excellant bedside manner. dr. huacuz is the surgeon at the molding clinic. they actually have a team of doctors that work on each patient, everyone of them with their own specialty. my surgery was about 60-mins. long and i had no problems, i was up walking six hours after my surgery. the staff also made my husband feel very welcome at the moldin clinic, and let him stay in the room with me for my one overnight stay. i then recovered in a five star hotel in tijuana, who what have thought they had those? they really do. the next after noon,my husband and i went shoping for about three hours, i was a bit tired after that. they also have a nutrition doctor, dr. cesar romero that came to our hotel to speak with my husband and i regarding my nutrition journey with the band, he was very pleasant and explained things very thourough. i am home now and the only problem i had was the gas pain, which every doctor has to use to get to your stomach with the laperoscopy tools. i would reccomened the molding clinic to anyone interested in the lap-band with great confidience that you will be very happy with their service. i encourage you to visit thier websit - www.moldingclinic.com.mx

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
