Hi, I live in Gillette. I had my surgery with Dr. Parnell in Cheyenne on March 17 this year. I have lost 69 pounds and so far am doing great. The emotional part has been a little tough lately but I am working on it.

I also run the Support Group here for Bariatric Surgery Patients.

I have not been in here in quite awhile.

Glad to meet you all.

Dottie R.

Hi Dottie, I live in Sheridan and had my surgery yesterday with Dr. Parnell in Cheyenne. Congrats for your weight loss, I am a little sore and tired but doing great. Do you have any suggestions on how to get Protein in while on the clear liquid diet?

Thanks,

Cheryl

Greetings Wyocowgirl! I had my surgery in Riverton May 4, 2009.

I think we are SO lucky to have Dr. Lewis in the heart of Wyoming!

I like the ticker - helps me see the progress I have already made!

Hi! I am a secretary for Laramie Peak Realty/Wyoming Farmers Mutual Insurance Co. Been so slow on real estate end and the insurance company is going out of business, so I am only working two days a week right now.

Where are you now? Good to meet some people from WY on here. Keep in touch!

Hi, I'm over in Victor & was just wondering where & who did ur band. Do you know anyone who does the gastric sleeve in the area? I hope all is going well for you. Any info would be very much appreciated. Thanx

Hi!

I am from Jackson, WY. I was banded May 19th and have had 4 fills with a total of 2.7 cc's in a 12 cc band.... I am feeling it a bit, but not enough I think. How are you all doing with excercise?

I live just outside Casper. Dr. Todd Becksted did my band on March 3; I am down 26 pounds and would be more except ice cream goes down soooooo easy. I am happy with Dr. B and Deb Miller, the RN who is in charge of the weight loss program at WMC, is an angel.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
