Is Burping okay? I'm having some gas... and I always feel like I need to burp. Once in a while.. I do get a little burp out. Is that good or bad?

Burping is fine, it is so much better than puking, hiccuping or holding the gas in. I never burped in my life before the band, and now I welcome it when I eat too fast.

For me the burps are much bigger and loud and come from deep in my stomach. It's kind of embarassing, I can't make them quiet, but oooh, they feel good.

I wasn't a burper before--but now!!!lol I have to burp, long and loud, or I'm very uncomfortable. I do take Gas-X if it gets too much, it helps a little.

I too have been burping a ton since nbeing banded on the 14th. They seem a little more productive now, meaning I get some relief when I burp. This last week I felt like I had to burp, and all I could get was a little tiny burp here and there even with the gas-x. I never thought I would say how good it feels to burp now, although it seems they always come in 3's LOL! It will be interesting to go back to work tomorrow if i continue burping the way I am now....doesn't matter if I have just eaten ot it's first thing in the AM. I guess it's better than farting or throwing up, and the air has to come out, right?

It took 8 days for me to burp and boy was it painful not being able to get the air out. I was so excited when I finally had a good one. In fact it is only occasionally when I get a good one up, usually after drinking plain Water, but boy does it feel good!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
