Doddie63 6 Posted August 1, 2008 Thank you. I give most credit to my victories to the band. Once it got my appetite under control my journey is a bit easier. Having said all the "I's" the support that has been given to me by this website by members that have their own cross to bare has been emotionally stimulating. Unselfish support from others that are also struggling is very gratifying.

MaryD 0 Posted August 2, 2008 Just my luck! I am on day 10 of my all fluids diet looking forward to my banding on August 6th. Then I get a phone call from the hospital today saying my doctor wants a copy of my last colonoscopy and hemoccult. So I call my gastroendenologist, and his office is closed until August 7th, a day too late. Then I called the hospital where the colonoscopy was done, and had a copy faxed. I picked up a hemocult from my primary physician which calls for a stool sample for three days. As I said, I have been on fluids for ten days. I hope this is do-able! skinnydippn42 0 Posted August 2, 2008 Carlene, I am with you on the artificial sweeteners. They leave a very unpleasant aftertaste for me - and esp Splenda. My nephew suggested a product to me and I wonder if you have heard of it. It's called Setia, and it is a natural product, not chemical. You can find it primarily in natural food stores such as Whole Foods Markets (and others). I bought it in Cincinnati where it was in the Supplement aisle - here in Missouri it was in the same aisle with the other sweeteners. They have a small size bottle, and it takes a TINY amount to sweeten a glass of iced tea for instance. The bottle comes with the smallest spoon I have ever seen, and I suggest you go easy even with that spoon! At our local store I also saw it in a box the size of a box you would see Sweet'n'Low or Splenda in. I don't know if you could cook or bake with it. I've just been using it in tea and coffee, have not checked other uses. You might try a small bottle and see if that helps your sweet tooth. OOPS! I gave you the wrong product name. Looked in my purse as we were leaving the house - the name of the product is "Stevia", not setia. Sorry 'bout that. I hope no one was running to the nearest health food market to purchase this!! tee hee. Don here. I have not been on for awhile and am trying to get caught up on the reading. We are using SPlenda alot in our house. We are also looking into a couple other one to see what they are like. Have not done it yet. One is OnlySweet - Sweet Home ; the other one is: Xylitol - All Natural Sweetener - Xylitol My wife has used Stevia and does not like it. It's too bitter for her. carlene2008 0 Posted August 2, 2008 Well, Don, I'll have to keep those sweeteners in mind. I don't really like Stevia either and now have a box I just bought of packets. I may take it to the car club meeting tomorrow to see if anyone likes it. One packet of it is 2 servings. It doesn't sweeten my mug of coffee enough and I'm afraid to use a 2nd packet, 'cause it might make it bitter It's hot back here. I need to head up front. I'll bet we break the 107 record today. That'll put the index over 110.

KarenIn 2 Posted August 6, 2008 I had my surgery Monday, August 4th. Actually, I also had two hernias repaired, so I had to stay in the hospital overnight. I quess one of the hernia's was pretty big. I'm pretty sore (mostly for the hernia repair, I think), but doing o.k.

MaryD 0 Posted August 7, 2008 :thumbup:MY SURGERY WAS GREAT! I had my banding TODAY and I am sitting here AT HOME feeling good with just a little cramping, better than PMS. My surgeon in Asheville, NC is awesome. I have one small puncture and one 2 1/2 inch incision for the port. THAT IS ALL! This is some thing new, I think. I came home 7 hours after arriving at St. Joseph's Hospital, and then had a 2 hour ride which I spent napping. (My husband was driving!) I am looking forward to a speedy recovery and a whole new life!
lkgrubb 0 Posted August 7, 2008 MaryD, So happy for you! This great news that all went well. Obviously the docs are getting better. No Gas pains and only 2 incisions! WOW! Wht kind of band did they use? Keep us updated! Karen
