jerseygirl518 3 Posted January 27, 2010 Roxie, this morning I did soccer, slolum skiing, golf, yoga, jogging, tennis and the drum major thing. I'm still new to it, so I'm trying everything. Because of bad knees, there are some things I can't do.

jerseygirl518 3 Posted January 28, 2010 FYI - Don't overdo the wii. OML I was in so much pain in the middle of the night. My shoulders were sending messages I didn't want to hear. Too much golf, I had never done it before. Oh, and by the way. I can't ski jump. No matter what I do, I wind up a giant snow ball. The good news is I weighed in at 229.5. In the twenties. .5 lbs away from 80 lbs lost.
kll724 3,055 Posted January 28, 2010 Good for you! I know it is hard work. You are right about the Wii. But, I like the fact that they weigh you in, and then keep track of your progress. Good luck!
PB78640 0 Posted January 28, 2010 I am encouraged by all the words of wisdom I have read from ya'll. I have a few questions - was it very difficult not to eat bead? I love starches and sweets - obviously! I have been doing the 6 month supervised diet routine for the insurance company - this is only my 2nd month. Go in 1 1/2 for my 3rd visit. I will probalby get banded in June or July. What did ya'll find the most difficult with the band? Would you do it again?

In the twenties..5 lbs away from 80 lbs lost. LOL!! I've had my Wii for over a year and a half and I still end up a snowball every time I try that ski jump! I can do the downhill slalom, though... have it on advanced and I think I"m under a minute now. I guess my very favorite is the tilt table. Do that on advanced, too, and I LOVE the new Wii Fit Plus, though I haven't used it too much lately. It's a little tougher when we're living in our RV in the winter... much smaller TV screen and crowded... not a lot of room to move. I'd break something if I did baseball of golf!! HAHA! I am encouraged by all the words of wisdom I have read from ya'll. I have a few questions - was it very difficult not to eat bead? I love starches and sweets - obviously! What did ya'll find the most difficult with the band? Would you do it again? Doesn't bother me not to eat bread, but I sure miss potatoes!! HAHA! I LOVE potatoes... any way you fix them! Very seldom eat them, though, or rice, Pasta, or bread. Once in a while. Would I do it again??? IN A HEARTBEAT!! BP down, Rx cut, knee replacement and now walking more, and feeling good about myself. No more seat belt extender when I fly! Car even feels too big! HAHA! Have to slide the car seat all the way up to drive. Don't know how I ever reached the pedals when my stomach was too big to slide the seat up. And I LOVE not having to shop in the PLUS sizes! Hi KarenIn, thanks for the welcome. SPENCERBE333 0 Posted January 29, 2010 Thank you for your suggestion. I was able to get in and find this thread again. I am doing well and lost 6 pounds in the past two weeks so I am back on track. I love this thread. Thank you all for posting and keeping me motivated. I tried fitday.com and love the site. I have been logging what I eat, but haven't exercised much lately. Does the Wii fit have anything not too strenous for us "older" folks? Thanks again, Becky

There are alot of less strenuous things to do. There are balance games, yoga, strength training - plus the aerobic stuff.
jerseygirl518 3 Posted January 29, 2010 Phyl, I think I wind up a snow ball because I can't lock my right knee. The left knee is new and it locks, but I need the right one replaced.

phyllser 3 Posted January 30, 2010 Phyl, I think I wind up a snow ball because I can't lock my right knee. The left knee is new and it locks, but I need the right one replaced. YEP! It's definitely a knee issue! I had my left replaced the end of August, and the right one needs it, too. Had a partial on the right 5-6-7 yrs ago, but dr. says the hardware is loosening and collapsing because of the weight loss! Oh, well! I guess that's an okay problem. Doesn't bother me much. Hips giving me some grief since I'm walking more now! :bored:I am getting much better at the tight rope walking. The tilt table is not too strenuous. Some of the new Wii Fit Plus things are really fun. But there's one of them that requires that you jump too... you're running down a dock dodging swinging balls... like wrecking balls, but then after you make it through a couple of levels you have to jump.. and that's where I always end up in the ocean! HAHA!

KarenIn 2 Posted January 30, 2010 Hi KarenIn, thanks for the welcome. I live in Kyle,Tx - small town south of Austin. Been overweight since ater my pregnancy years ago and keep adding pounds on. Hoping for a better quality of life - taking walks with my husband and our dog, enjoying life a bit more. Any advise is greatly appreciated. I can eat bread, but choose to only have bread very occasionally. I try to stick to a low carb life style, and so I don't eat much white flour, rice or Pasta. I had some angel hair pasta last night and it was not a good experience. It ended up getting stuck and was pretty painful. I quess I didn't chew it enough, or I ate too much. I haven't had too many things get stuck, so that doesn't make me want to have pasta again any time soon. Hang it there, as you lose the weight you will be able to be more and more active. I can't believe how much more energy I have now. I just had some sugery on my bladder and can't exercise for a while per doctor's orders. I really miss my walking and biking! I thought I would never say that a few years ago.
cat lady 10 Posted January 31, 2010 Hi all 60+ bandsters: I am considering the band at 62 years old. Thought maybe I was being foolish to do this....but glad to see so many others my age did it already. Did anyone have the sils procedure and how did you do after surgery. Did it take long to heal? Did anyone have a problem with blood clots. I heard about a young girl on this site who had blood clots to her lungs after surgery and it scared the Heck out of me. Would you all do it again if given the choice? Thanks for your replies. cat lady:confused:
