Karen, good plan - sending the leftovers away! I was glad to have TG at my DS&DIL's house. I brought enough leftovers home to satisfy my husband and give him something to enjoy while I am on these liquids w/o my having to cook much. He has volunteered to cook his own meals while I am under such restrictions - he is a sweetie. I saw what he fixed last night. He is going to be glad when I am cooking for him again...

I do enjoy cooking, and one of the things that appeals to me about this program is that I should be able to eat like a normal person - just drastically smaller portions. We are a family that enjoys our Protein and veggies. DH does not care about potatoes, rice, sweets, or Pasta at all - would do without happily (and will!). That's one of the reasons I believe this is the plan for me. I can still cook for us - we can eat the same food - both of us will lose weight and be healthier. We can even eat out w/o going crazy at the table. Getting through the next 4-6 weeks will be the toughest part - and we will do that just fine.

I am excited!!!

Joann I think you are going to do very well on you weight loss journey. It seems that you have done a good job of planning and preparing. It really helps to have the support of the people around you, as well. I will be thinking about you on Thursday. Please let us know how you did.

I am thrilled to say that as of this morning, when I weighted myself, I am down #100 pounds. I still have 60 more to lose, but I know that I can do it with the help of the band.

Hi. My name is Lin and this is the first time I've been on the 60+ site. When I read messages from people in their 20's and 30's, they have lost weight so quickly that I feel like maybe I am doing something wrong... I'm losing so much less. So, I'd love to hear from ladies in their 60's. I was banded 10 months ago and have lost 65 pounds.

How are you ladies doing? Do you have any tips for success? I am SO HAPPY I had the surgery, but thought it would go faster.

Thanks for your help.

Karen Congratulations on 100 and I am happy you had a great TG day.

Linnylou - meet the turtle. I lose 1/2 lbs per week and have been on a plateau for 3 months. As we get older, we require less food and the weight is harder to come off, but believe me it does come off with careful control of your solid Proteins, etc. There are many of us that lose slowly but all it means, it takes us longer to meet our goals. But isn't it wonderful to step on the scales and not show a weight gain or even a slight loss. This I do know, the band prevents me from overeating. Good luck on your journey.

Thank you so much for your words of encouragement.

I often compare myself to others who's journey is going faster than mine but each of us is different. I am happy to be wearing clothing I haven't worn in years. I just thought the weight would "fall off" on it's own which is not the case. I will succeed this time though. I have a different mind set. I'm thrilled with the band. I do chair exercises twice a day religiously and hope that will help. Eventually I hope I can do regular exercise.

Linnylou, i will turn 62 on Saturday and i was just banded 2 weeks ago. Our journey may take a little longer than the younger ones but you have lost 65 pounds. i think that is great i hope i will do as well. In our meetings prior to surgery we were told the weight lose for the band is slow. So keep up what you are doing.

help. how do you get the ticker factory and other items i see on your pages?

Hi Silver,

The website is www.tickerfactory.com. You can choose your ticker information and style, then copy the codes onto your signature block. Additional information is in the User CP section on the left hand side at the top of this page. I had some trouble getting my ticker to copy at first - I emailed Alex (super admin) and he very graciously helped me.

I should have been banded in july

but the doc had to postpone my appointment

then I had to have parathyroid surgery

then my Calcium was too low for surgery

then I was to be baned on 12/9 but the

receptionist forgot to schedule me

so now I have to wait until 12/16 - if they have an appointment open

my heart rate is so high over all this stress

plus I have the stress of dialysis

I am so upset

KarenIn: Congratulations! Wow! You are doing so well, you inspire me!

I haven't posted in a while, but have read everyone's posts. I think I am the queen of plateaus and slow weight loss. But it is coming off, albeit slowly. And the good news is, I won't gain any of it back. I try to console myself with the fact that, I hope, I will need less plastic surgery with such a slow weight loss....:cursing:

Hi Nancy - please don't beat up on yourself. You have lost 10 pounds a month and I'll bet that is better than you have done in a long time on other diets. You are doing great!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
