NYC Docs? Anyone used Dr. Roslin?

Recommended Posts

hi folks... am new to the site, "pre-op" and considering dr. mitchell roslin at lennox hill in nyc. i've searched the site and there doesn't seem to be much here on him. has anyone out there used him? if so, what have your experiences with him, his staff and his hospital been like?

have read a lot here about nyu. for those that have gone with drs fielding and ren, did you consider lennox hill? if so, why did you decide to go the nyu route?

thanks in advance for all your advice and insight.

I didn't use Dr. Roslin, but I did use Dr. Kurian when she was part of his group a Lenox Hill Hospital. I was always very pleased with the care I got from Dr. Kurian. The office staff in Dr. Roslin's office was ALWAYS very warm and friendly.

While I can't speak personally of Dr. Roslin, I have heard a lot of good things about him, so you should be in good hands if you decide to go with him.

If you are interested in keeping your options open though, I would HIGHLY suggest you check out the doctors who are part of the NYU team... Dr. Fielding, Dr. Ren, and MY FAVORITE... Dr. Kurian. They are truly some of the best bariatric surgeons (specifically for the lap band) nationwide, so I would encourage you to meet with them.

Good luck to you!!!

thanks for the super quick reply. i will definitely check out the nyu team too. can't hurt to shop around, right?

mommy0105: if you don't mind my asking... how did your surgery go? how quickly were you able to get back to work and return to normal mobility?

I also used Dr. Kurian, and she is great. I felt better in a week. Right now I am on my 3rd week and bact to work. She has a great staff, very friendly. They treat you extremely well. I am so glad that I did the surgery with her.

Was in the NYU office for my post opt visit/Fill with Dr. Ren today. I have been so happy with their staff since I was scheduled for the surgery, and when I had some complications after the surgery, they took me right in. I am very happy I had my surgery with Dr. Ren.

I was banded by Dr. Fielding on 1/25. I worked with his team for almost a year before i got approved. They are great and my overnight stay at NYU was second to none. The office is busy but then again (IMO) they are some of the best in the world at this.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
