 Hello everyone! I am new to this site and was wondering, what is PBing? I am sure I do this, because when I read different posts I can relate to conversations that use the PBing. Can anyone enlighten me as to what it means?

Hi, PBing is short for productive burp. Type PBing into the search box at the top right hand side and you will get a wealth of posts about it.

Greeneyes,

Keep it up! They should be paying you for your tutorials and help. It is incredibly helpful for someone who has just begun. My surgery is January 23rd, in 2 days. So, I am on the first day of liquids - this should be interesting  Does anyone have some general advice for me starting out?

Yes, stick to the diet the doctor gives you religiously. It is crucial for your healing. I also lost my most weight then! Good luck to you! Where are you having your surgery?

I would recommend you start a new posting wanting general advice, versus end-posting on to someone's introduction. If nothing else, advice posts typically draw more attention.

That being said, peruse our FAQ section. Most people find there are answers to most of their questions there. If that doesn't answer your question, try running a search on the particular area you want advice, e.g. eating, pain management, etc. Chances are the advice is already out there, you just need to find it.

Productive Burp? Ok I know what a burp is of course but does "productive" mean that something comes up? Like a productive cough? I know this sounds gross but after you have a PB and something does come up do you have to spit it out?

I'm learning so much here.

Oh, yeah . . . something comes up. It's when food isn't chewed properly or your band is too tight so food cannot pass through to the stomach. It has nowhere to go but . . .up. Not pleasant, but not quite as gross as vomiting, since the food hasn't hit the stomach acids yet.

Wheetsin

Newbie don't see this section and the other one that gives instructions for ticker - as they state they don't know how to navigate in here right away and they aren't always super computer savvy either. - I have been here since May and I find new stuff every now and then that I didn't know about..

They are excited and need help as to where to go - Introductions seems like the 1st place for them to go.

IMHO there should be a forum sitcky or whatever it's called "NEWBIE ENTER HERE FIRST" and then have all the definitions - tutorials - etc in one place.

Everyone jumps into introductions and then the questions start - I was new and lucky that the ladies in the 50+ thread were patience with me and answered my questions.

I think the old timers here are forgetting they were new once and are loosing patience’s answering the same questions over and over again - Sometime I try and direct them and other times I ignore figuring someone else will

But I really do think we need a forum (see I am not super computer savvy in what they are called forum vs. sticky) that people see when they hit the home board so they know where to go to get their answers - It needs a title "newbie" this may help - jmho...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
