Dr. Will not let me drive!!!

My only restriction was that I could not drive while on the pain meds. I went of them at 2 days post op and starting driving at day 3 with no problems. I would go mad not driving for that long! Seems excessive. Did they have a reason?

I'm sorry, I know I'm not part of your group, but your title caught my eye. That's crazy! I would have lost my job if I hadn't been able to drive for 15 days! I went back to work at 4 days post-op, but I did have my husband with me. But driving was fine. I drive around for 12 hours at night off and on as a security officer. Unless you're on narcotics, driving should not be restricted. Has your doctor explained WHY the restriction?

Drs are funny. My initial instructions said to not drive for two weeks. My discharge instructions said I could drive once I stopped the pain medication and felt up to it. My Dh read the first instructions, told everybody I wasn't allowed to drive! so, I didn'tfor a week (blah). I finally wrestled the keys away from him 11 days post op. 15 days sounds excessive but he must have his reasons.

My doc would not allow me to drive for 14 days. Appreciate it - when I did go back to work, I was exhausted. Rest.
