HOORAY! New surgery date!

Recommended Posts

They had a cancellation of a surgery and my date was moved up to January 25 from the 29th! Only 4 days but that is 4 days less of the pre-op diet! And 4 days closer to my goal. I am really excited.

But, when I got the call - it suddenly made this much more real. Just a litttle fear crept in but far more excitement to get this done!

When I was moved from Jan 21, to Dec 31, I cried because I was going to not be able to eat Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Years Day. All big family food days in my family. It took a long talk with my parents to put it into perspective.

Now I am glad it was moved up. You are right when you say its better because you are closer to your goal now.-

Thanks! I am very excited about this. It is certainly becoming very real now! I can't wait to be on the other side of this! God knows this website and all of you have provided me support through this whole process when you didn't even know it!

I know how you are feeling....just wanting it to be over and start your new life with the band. It's a HUGE relief when the day finally arrives. I was scared but more relieved then anything. Best of luck!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
