What would you do if you weren't "big"?

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering if anyone looks at their life preband and says If I weren't so big I would LOVE to do such and such?

Here are a few things I would do IF I weren't so big:

Have more sex:tt1: (sure my husband would love that)

dress better

Not worry about sitting in a chair and breaking it

feel more comfortable in a bathing suit and not wear a tee shirt

hiking and camping

zip wire-where you zip over the jungle on a wire....you have to weigh under so much! :)

not worry that ppl are looking at me when I am eating a piece of pie and thinking "she sooo does not need that, fat ass"

What about everyone else?

There's tons, I was talking about this with a good friend of mine I came up with 10!

Cross my legs

Be able to buy knee high boots

Wear a swimsuit or heaven help me bikini comfortably

Be able to sit in any chair and not have to mentally judge whether or not I'll fit

Go skydiving

Not to be put in the front passenger seat of every car / taxi share

Able to fly without being uncomfortable and travel longhaul for first time

Share clothes with friends

Shop anywhere I please

Not to hide behind people or have friends sit on my lap for photos to hide me!

OK...here's my list:

Wear a bathing suit without being mortified

Be able to jog without the fear keeling over in death

Walk 60 miles in the 3 day breast cancer walk (I'm doing it in October 2008)

Chase my children in the yard

Be in pictures instead of always being the picture taker

Go on a roller coaster ride again

Go into a store and buy clothes without trying them on

Not worry about the seat belt buckling on an airplane

Go hiking in the mountains with my husband

Wear business suits at work instead of generic sweaters and stretchy slacks

I'm happy to report that at this point I now do not worry about half of those things. I'm getting there...I'm in no hurry...it feels great and I LOVE MY BAND!!!

Here's a good one right off the top of my head...

to be able to sit in a booth in a restaurant without your tummy touching the table, also looking at the table before you sit down to judge if you will fit.

Dress like a professional and not a schlepp.

Keep up with my husband when we are walking in public.

Have my dad (who's big as a f'n house himself) get off my case about my weight.

Oh there are so many things!

1. Ride roller coasters again (hubby and I are enthusiasts)

2. Be able to shop in any clothing store I want - no more Lane Bryant!!!

3. Be able to spend time out in the sun without getting heat exhaustion

4. Reduce my Migraines (I get them from exertion & swelling)

5. Have no problems with legs swelling ever again

6. WEAR SHORTS...I'm sick of capris

7. Wear a tank top in the hottest weather (I've always hated my arms)

8. Weigh less than my husband

9. Be able to run

10.Avoid a breast reduction - hopefully I'll lose a ton of weight in my 'girls'!

11.Swim in public without the shame of getting into a bathing suit

12.Be able to sit in any chair without having to visually evaluate it first to see if it will hold me.

...and there's a ton more...this surgery is saving my life and allowing me the tool to finally succeed. Much thanks to modern technology.

THis is the best thread!! Thanks! Ok, here's my list:

1. Be able to ski ALL the way to the bottom and not stop every 10 seconds.

2. Be able to buy pretty ski bunny outfits, instead of XXXL men's ski gear.

3. Think that people are commenting about how hot I look, not how fat I am. (I constantly feel people are pointing and commenting)

4. Not wear granny shoes - I want to wear sexy high heels without sore feet after half an hour.

5. Wear fashionable young clothing instead of tents designed for the older generation.

6. Be able to fit into an aeroplane seat without the passenger next to me suffocating - I have managed not to use a seat belt extender, but you know what I mean.

7. Be known as hot, not the pretty fat girl.

8. Be the same size as my 2 sisters and parents, instead of the fat odd one out.

9. Be able to see my feet!

10. Have sex with my husband - you can't get pregnant without it!

I have always wanted to ride the mules to the bottom of the Grand Canyon,:seeya:

ride in a dog sled,

go on a float trip in a canoe,

ride all the rides at the amusement park with the kids,

keep up with the kids at the amusement park without a motorized wheel chair,

go to the theater,

go to the movies,

ride in an airplane without being miserable.:smokin:

run a 5K

not have to ask for a sturdier chair when visiting. (I don't want to break my friends furniture)

Ride a bicycle

This is my list of things to do as soon as I get small enough. But the most important is to be healthy.

1. Be skinnier than my husband!

2. Get pregnant...5 years at it and nothing to show for it.

3. Not feel embarrassed when I go to any doctor's office and get weighed...worried they'll make some snide comment.

4. Be able to fit in with my family - my brother used to be heavy, but he recently lost a bunch of weight - I'm the black sheep.

5. So people can see what originally attracted my husband to me. LOL Yes, I admit it - I'd love to be considered "Arm Candy."

6. Be able to get into running again - I miss that.

7. Be able to wear shorts! It's now been 5 years since I wore shorts and even then, I HATED how I looked in them.

8. Wear a swimsuit and swim with my step-kids and my DH. I've been left out of that for too long because I can't stand being in a suit.

9. Feel like clothes shopping again - I have the bare minimum of what I need to get by right now because I HATE trying clothes on this body.

10. To get sexy lingerie...I promised DH that when I'm at or near goal that I'd go on a lingerie shopping spree. :(

11. Be able to wear my hot leather pants again.

12. Be cooler in the summer.

13. Be active with the step-kids this summer!

14. Be more adventurous with sex again.

15. Be in more pictures rather than being the photographer.

16. Just knowing when I get there that I'll be able to fit into my formal gowns and business suits again...even if I have nowhere to wear them.

17. Once I get down to goal, I'll be getting my wedding dress taken in and DH and I will get wedding pics done...we never had that.

18. Energy and overall health.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
