pain at one end of port site after op

Recommended Posts

hi all

just wondered if someone couldhelp. i was banded 48 hrs ago and feel ok except for what feels like tearing at one end of my port incision when i move around.

i had something similar when i had my gall bladder out, so of course i've done nothing, and now it's the weekend and i wondered if i should go to an after hours doc or something.

i'm not taking any pain meds, and slept ok last night. it's just when i move around. it's like a hot searing pain.

thanks

t

I don't know if this will help you, but I still get that deep, tearing pain when I move the wrong way and I'm 4-1/2 weeks out. I still can't roll over in bed because it's so uncomfortable. I also had my gallbladder out before this and know what surgical pain is like. But, I'm even wondering if it should be like this at this stage. "I feel your pain!" Good luck.

thanks moosictcher

it makes a difference to know that someone understands and it sounds very very similar! i am a big coward when it comes to medical things and tend to panic on weekends!

thanks for posting... if you are doing ok with it then i can too! this place is such a big help!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
