Sip a little, Walk a little!

Recommended Posts

I cant remember what musical this song is from talking about woman. But I feel like I have my own version. Sip a little, walk a little,Sip a little, walk a little, sip, sip sip, walk a little sip alot. LOL.

Ok now about the burps, or semi burps. So I have been getting the feeling like a burp is about to come up and instead it disolves in my chest. OUCH, what the heck is up with that? Is that what the ate to much golf ball feels like? Does that go away or is that common with the new tiny stomach?

Other than that I am doing ok, my dad is still cooking. LOL he is now preparing my second and third stage foods. I am going to have to donate my entire freezer to my grandma to make space.

I took my first shower today and it was a small slice of heaven. I asked my doctor what size band I had and he mentioned it was a Inamed 10 something, does anyone know what that means?

Thanks for listining, I must be feeling better considering my loquatiousness.

Hi, Rachel. Your song is from the musical, The Music Man. It's "Pick a little, talk a little . . ." but I like your version better!. Glad you are feeling better.

As far as the burps, I have a real problem with that and in fact I'm going to get a slight unfill tomorrow because of it. Yours will probably get better with time. Your stomach is just swollen now. As it goes down, the burps should get better. Your Inamed band is the one a lot of surgeons are using now. It allows greater flexability with fills. Sounds like all is going well with you.

Nancy

Rachel that feeling of a burp trying to get out but can not is from all of the swelling it is thegas triny to get out but cant'. I had the same pain , it felt like i had to burp all the time but could not so when I called my doc he told me it is the swelling in my diaphram , once it goes down you will be able to burp with no pain..

The band you have I believe is the band that holds 4cc's of saline, it is the same one I have

Rachel, you're getting your sense of humor back! That's a sure sign of healing! Now would you send your Dad to my house for my next surgery? Heck, he can just come and visit...anyone that cooks like that! That's so sweet and I know it means so much to you.

Okay, I had to look it up so I know I'm not the only one. Loquatiousness is very talkative. Glad to see that you are loquacious! Must be your dad's cooking...Yay, Dad!

It could also be the 10cm 4cc band. There are 4 sizes of INAMED bands... 9.75 cm, 10 cm, 11 cm, and "Vanguard". The 10 cm band is the most commonly used of the INAMED bands today (or, at least, my doctor tells me), and holds 4 cc's of saline. The 9.75 cm band also holds 4 cc of saline. The 11cm band holds 9 cc's of saline. The Vanguard band holds 10 cc's of saline. From what I can tell, the Vanguard band is normally used for those with BMI's of over 50.

I've got the same burping issue - sometimes it just evaporates, I dont find it terribly painful I just feel like I might not look 6 months pregnant if I could let it out. Other times if a bend in the middle and then straighten up and open my mouth, this amazing looooooong burp comes out! I dont have to do anything, it just comes up, lol, a bit like a fart in the bathtub.

I can no longer burp on demand though, not that that was a skill I was particularly proud of.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
