Yes...we should definitely have a sub group for Feb 5th bandsters. How funny that it's Mardi Gras or "Fat Tuesday" that day!! I think it's safe to say this will be our LAST FAT TUESDAY!! I'm enjoying this weekend and indulging a little it before I start my pre-op diet on Monday. Nothing out of control.....just a nice sushi dinner with my hub last night and a fun girl's night out tonight. Trying to narrow down some Protein drinks that I like. So far, I like Slimfast Low-carb and this powder I found called "Slim Script". How about the rest of you? How are you prepping for your pre-op diet?

GO CHARGERS!!!!!!!!!:)

I personally have always liked EAS locarb dark chocolate. 17 g of Protein and 100 calories.

I'll start liquid next week. now my dr never said for a liquid but i have gained weight over the holidays and since Jan 1 i've started to cut back. I just want to be at least the weight i was for my initial appt.

plus its the jump start to my new life..i will next week buy that Welcome to the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Homepage powder protein.

:)

Had my surgery 12/31/07 Just a reminder to stay hydrated I am having to work on that one constantly. I have been waking up at night for the last several days with such a dry throat that I cant even make spit. I had to get up and get Water. It is a very uncomfortable feeling. I guess we will all have our issues and that is my big one. I know all the tricks but I just do not feel thirsty. Also take some chapstick to the hospital. All the fear and excitement is normal. Good luck.

Thanks for all the great feed back. We should definitely keep in touch. I am getting more excited, have been reading all weekend. I luckily will have a caretaker, a good friend, up here and have family too, so I'm sure I'll be well taken care of. In fact I have three people all wanting to be at the hospital with me. :)

Thanks for the painkiller tip, because I really do get nauseous easily and I plan on moving around as much as possible, flapping my wings :Banane11:to get all that gas out and drink lots. I bought a Jack Lalanne Power Juicer and I just love it, it's very liquidy so you don't have to strain and even tho vegetable juice sounds gross it's actually very good. It came with some Protein powder that has 30g per 2 scoops, crazy. haven't tried it yet, but i'll let you know.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
