Wow. Aggressive fill.

Recommended Posts

lauren and marilyn,

I'm at the same place you are. I got my second fill Jan. 10 and I've been having a lot of trouble with solids, but I figure if I watch what I eat I will be okay. I had relatives from the east coast here this week and did a lot of bad eating out (and puking out) but today I was home, took it easy, and while I can't eat much, I could get Soup and some chili down. Peanut Butter seems to be fine too. I've lost 6 pounds since the fill, which is nice, but I hate to think I might be doing damage with the pbing.

Just take it easy. Make sure you cut meat up the size of a pencil eraser. Chew it until there is nothing left to chew. Then wait before taking another bite, so you can tell if it's stuck. Eat very slowly. If you lose a little bit, you'll lose fat around your stomach and the band will loosen.

If you continue to pb eating slowly and taking itty bitty bites, you might need to have a tiny bit of saline taken out.

My surgeon works in .5cc increments for 4cc bands, and I *think* 2cc increments for 10cc bands. He is one of the moer aggressive fillers -- in his words, "Why not get you losing quicker?"

i agree with you're surgeon...

and my surgeon is an aggressive filler as well... at one of my fills he did 3.2cc's .. and he never does less than 1.5cc's

My surgeon is considered "conservative" but he gave me 3ccs at my first fill (1cc already in the band from surgery) and 2ccs at my second fill. However, it was six weeks from surgery for my first fill and five weeks until the second (couldn't get an appointment for four weeks.) It's four weeks until my next fill.

I'm really scared about having too much restriction and, personally, would rather have to add a bit of willpower to a light restriction from the band than have to deal with PB'ing and getting stuck. I can manage "a little" willpower on my own, it's when I have to keep up "a lot" over time that I fail...
Oh yeah, I don't believe in being so tight that you're always PBing, sliming, and getting stuck. I think that's just asking for a slipped or eroded band.

Yeah, I had great weight loss when I was too tight. I was smart enough to know that it would lead to losing my band, and that wasn't worth it. I went in for an unfill, and totally lost restriction. That's better than losing the band though!

It took me a year to get to my "sweet spot"

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
