Well all in all my surgery was pretty text book. my doctor was very happy with my liver. He said it was pretty and small he was impressed. The pain hasn't been bad either I haven't had anything stronger then tyenol. I am feeling much better today then i had been. If i could get this little pointy ball of gas out of my chest i would be feeling pretty normal. I am however tired still and trying to get my Protein in today im sure will be hard but i must do it. Hope everyone else is doing well.

:pray2:

Well done gilliebean! You sound like you are having a great recovery. I was really sore on day 1 and 2, but today is much better. I'm also still having issues with gas, but it seems to be moving now!

Keep in touch!

Gillibean, I'm sure you have a very pretty liver! What qualifies for a pretty liver anyhow? LOL. Glad to hear everything went well!

Thistledo, you will feel more human soon, I promise! It's amazing what a difference one day makes. Each day you will feel better than the one before. It's been 1 week and 1 day since my surgery and if you told me last week how good I would be feeling today, I would never believe you. It gets better, just keep pushing through it!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
