No, but I get hiccups more frequently (a definite sign of eating too much, too fast).

yes, I think that is a sign you have restriction. I burp and hiccup as the Dr. was doing my last fill and this had not happened during the 1st one. And oh yes, but do I burp, hiccup and fart like something awful since being banded..........don't forget the hunger pains sounding like a freight train coming through the house.......quite embarrassing in a meeting with the big boss!!

what do you do for the gas (farts) I have that all the time and it is so embarassing at work -

I burp alot now THe nurse said I'm drinking to fast or eating to fast. It could also be that your diaphram is still alittle pissed off lol. Sipping and eating slower has helped a little. 2 weeks since being banded.

I def. burp a lot more. I have to say, it feels great when I do. It's usually when I've eaten and I can feel that "full" feeling. Then I burp and ahhhhh..... All is well. I know not to eat anymore but I def. feel a sense of peace (for lack of a better phrase). It was very hard to burp right after the surgery and I try not to make myself for fear of putting too much air in me. Great question!

Yes, and glad to see from the Poll im not the only one. They come around 15-45 min after a meal. They are deep and satisfying. So they are productive for me, but not in the terms here where food comes up. Just air and I feel SO much better afterwards, like everything is settling.

I thought that I'd have trouble with flatulance after surgery (i've heard people who have bypass fart way more after) however I think because i'm eating so much better I guess i probably fart LESS than I did before. Just the burping is consistant. I almost look forward to it now. It's all good.

what is flatulance?

OMG…….. I am so glad that I’m not alone. I use to pass gas that would knock walls down, none of that anymore. I have never been a huge burp person but occasionally I could get a good one out. I have not burped at all since surgery just PB’ing:thumbs_down:. It sucks sometimes I wish I could just stick a funnel down my throat and other places to help relive the built up gas:w00t:. GAS X is not my friend either. Good luck ya'll.

I burp all the time now, but they are small and internal and no one can really tell because they are well hidden. I regularly need to get some air up from my stomach and into my pouch but even after small burps, it still seems like i need to do it again. Cold Water definitely makes it happen. I also dont drink right before going to bed because you can hear it trickling and gurgling through my system and I need to burp alot. Hiccups are now really common post meals.

All in all, no big deal. :0)

I figured this out 30 years ago and when I see people on the street or a plane who have hiccups I tell them how to get rid of them and they are gone within 15 seconds.

The mistake most people make is taking a deep breath and holding it. You need to do the opposite - blow out ALL your air and swallow as many times as you can in a row. If you need to sip a little Water to swallow that's fine.

Guaranteed gone in 15 seconds. I think it restricts the throat and that's why it works so well.

Let me know if it works for you!

:cool2:

I am a belching, burping monster that can keep up with the big boys on this! I gross my husband out about every 30 minutes because when I can let them fly it is a lot better than stifling them!

In fact I just did a good one in honor of this post!! LOL

Yes, I burp a LOT more since being banded, and not just one or two, it's like a symphony.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
