Smiley50 0 Posted January 17, 2008 I am so excited. Aetna approved me on 12/21/07 and my Doctor gave me a surgery date today. It is 2/6/08. I am to start my two week pre-op liquid diet soon and cannot wait to get started. I am so ready for this. A little worried about the Gas pains but will wait to see what happens. Is there anything I can do to try to prevent the Gas pains before the surgery?
la8again 0 Posted January 17, 2008 I am not banded yet, but I have had 4 prior surgerys in my belly (2 laperoscopys, a c section, and a tubal) I have had the gas pains with all of them, but it really wasn't unbearable pain. I know that some people have stated how terriable it was, but normally I think most people do ok with it after the first few hours. You can't really do anything before hand, but the best thing to do afterwards is walk, walk, walk! It will work it out. I hope this helps you! My friend was banded on 12/18/07 and she walked the hospital floors pretty much the whole time she was there. She said that by the time she got home it was all worked out. momlambert 77 Posted January 17, 2008 Congrats, Smiley! You'll do fine. I don't know of anything you can do before banding but after you need to walk and walk as much as you can. It really helps with the gas pains. A heating pad helps as well. Good luck!
