HELP, Please! I am so tired.

Recommended Posts

I'm having a problem, and need advise.

When I try to sleep Fluid comes up so fast that either I choke or it comes out my nose. It's like "acid" reflux, it more like Water, but I can't sleep, and it only happens when I try to sleep.

I've asked my doctor and he said to wait 4 hours to go to bed after a meal. and I have. I am still having this problem, he also said that i could be too tight, but I have little restriction.

Has anyone else had this problem know what I could do to stop it???

Please help!

Are you taking a med to reduce reflux and acid production? I take Pepcid twice a day.

If you are already taking a med for this, I'd demand my doctor to look into it further. You cannot be sleeping much, you poor thing!

yeah I take an acid blocker twice a day!

I just don't know what else to do. I don't want then to take anything out of my band, I am 3 pounds away from wonderland!

Sounds like you are too tight...I have read other people with this symptom and that is what the end result was...they went in for a slight unfill.

1st I TOTALLY get your fear of being unfilled, I am living with that now. Ok about 3 months ago I started having the same symptoms....I was amazed at what was POURING out of my nose - and then there was waking up choking - its as if I needed to swallow in my sleep and forgot how......I'd never had reflux so I waited two weeks and finally called my PCP. I specifically asked if it could be related to my band and she wasted no time in saying no......She wrote a script for Pepcid - what she did not say is that it would take up to 2 months for the Pepcid to work. Just when it was getting better another symptom, that I had been ignoring, reared its ugly head - vomiting. This was more then just PBing it has become constant and immediate after I eat or drink anything. Needless to say the Pepcid pills I swallow come right back up too. At this point I am waiting for the orders for an upper GI and labs. I am dehydrated, irritable as all heck, sleep deprived and totally convince my band has slipped big time. The Morale of the Story ask for a Upper GI/Swallow test sooner then later.......AND UBER CONGRATS ON YOUR TREMENDOUS SUCCESS, don't worry about those three little lbs, for some of us that can be achieved through a 1/2 leg wax !

I have suffered with this for quite a while but know I am not over restricted from the amount I can eat. I take a strong ant-acid prescribed by my doctor and before I go to bed every night, I empty my pouch by coughing up (not vomiting or wretching) whatever Fluid is in there, and I sleep like a baby. If I don't do this then I gurgle and end up running for the loo as the reflux grips me.

It does sound like you may need only a very slight unfill if everything else fails. Good luck

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
