As we get older, I like to think we become wiser! Yes, I agree that the Band is definitely our way to go--much, much, much less invasive!

My foods haven't changed a lot--but it really depends on what you are eating right now. oatmeal or eggs for breakfast--tuna, Beans, yogurt, cottage cheese for lunch--chicken, meatloaf, chili, turkey, veggies for dinner.

I never was much of a red meat eater--some of the tough foods for me is beef, celery, onions, bananas, pineapple, lettuce--now I'm not saying I CAN'T eat these foods--I just have to work harder if I do (and sometimes I take the easy way out!)

The biggest change in my life is the Protein Shakes twice daily to get in my protein--I'm always making sure I have enough whey Protein isolate for a while and buy it in 5# buckets now!

My very best to you in this journey...

P.S. Yes, Yes, Yes---it works!!!

Guest Joan C

Hi,

I'm in Syracuse and have been at this prociess since October so we're maybe around the same place. I'm pretty scared though I have a good doc. I've only been a member here since yesterday but I already feel less alone.

Joan

It has the real story- and it makes me realize that this will be the best procedure for me-I finally have my appt next week with dr Garber and Dr Holovar- great reputation and I am still nervous- I know so many people tho have had this and are thrilled- lets keep in touch- we need support- amy

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
