Recently I sent in a Dr. question and unfortunately I couldn't get an answer. I was waking up around any where from 2 AM - 5 AM full of gas and belly distention. Well, I went into my Band Dr. and after questioning my diet, he explained I needed more Fiber. We get so focused on Protein we forget about the fiber. So, I went out and purchased Benefiber from Walmart and then went to costco to get the big one. Because my wife and I both are banders, we both are using it. Benefiber is nice because it's tasteless and orderless. You can put it straight into Water and no taste. I usually put it in my flavored water and, again, no added or strange flavors.

I wasn't having regular BM's until last few days. I was sitting daily, but only going once a week. Now, I'm going daily, 3 AM, so now I'm going to increase my fiber intake and I'll let you know how it's going.

I've been taking the Benefiber and the gassy, bloatedness  has been subsided for the most part. This morning I got up and was experiencing somewhat of the same thing :) but on a smaller scale. I think it's because I'm eating too much and/or too fast recently  . I'm also due for my first fill :musical_note: . When I say too much, it'd be like 10 oz steak, 2 tbsp of green Beans, and 1/2 cup of potatoes. I think once I get my fill, tomorrow, things will be on track  ... Oh yeah, and I've cut down on my Benefiber :cake: . I only have it once a day in the morning with my coffee.< /p>

Yes, it's been a while. I've lost a bit of weight. It's slowly coming off. I've got the "gassy" issue taken care of. It's unfortunately taken time. One thing that seemed to help besides getting enough fiber in me was having 2 liters of Water with 1 - 2 drops of peppermint oil. The oil helps the belly. It works and you smell good.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
