i have had a slow process with my band, i finally got better restiction at 3.0 in my 4cc band. I am still able to eat, but pb and getting meat stuck happens not as much as 2 weeks after my fill to 3.0cc . i am due to go back and i believe i still need more fill but going the 0.1cc at a time i believe would be better. have u all ever felt u were right there but not quite. 6mos into this and not much wt. lost yet. i am still keeping hope alive. kim:wink2:

I think a lot of it is how much you can tolerate. I can eat 1 cup of food now, but I am so tight that it takes me forever to do it, and it hurts. I don't like being this tight. if you go to the main thread you will see how much I whine about being this tight. For me I use the band to keep me from being hungry all the time. I don't have a problem limitng myself to the 1 cup of food when it is time to eat because I am not starving. So what I am saying is that the band doesn't prevent me from eating more most of the time, my brain does. What it does do is keep me from always feeling hungry. However, some people need to use the tool to prevent them from eating too much. I haven't pb'd with my fill, but if you think that you can live with upping the chances of pb's and not being able to eat meat (I couldn't do it!) then another fill might not hurt...especially if you are going up .1cc at a time. In fact it may only take .1 cc before you get to a point that you just can't take anymore without being miserable. Do you live close to the doc so that if you have a little put in and it is too tight that you could quickly get it out? Or is that not financially feasible either. I think you have too look at all of these things. For me I live too far from the doc to take those chances of being to tight, so that is why from now on, I will be VERY conservative in my fill. But again, if you think that you can handle it...go for it.

Oh and I dont' know how much you have lost, but remember, the lap band goes much slower than bypass. My doc says that 50 pounds in one year is what he hopes to see patients get to. So if you are anywhere around 25 pounds lost than you are on track. Also, tell us what you are doing and maybe we can give you some pointers.

I have about 2.75cc in a four cc band and I have very good restriction with that. I am not very hungry either. I think regular trips to the gym are what have helped me the most. Donna

Donna I agree 110% going to the gym is a big part of our weight loss - now they have proven that people who exercise have younger cells...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
