Interesting. I have no idea how to Celebrate my bandiversary. I don't want to buy any new clothes, because I'm hoping I won't be this size very much longer. I used to celebrate everything with food. The first thing that came to mind for a celebration on my bandiversary date was a "birthday" cake. What an awful idea!

So what are you guys doing, if anything? I'd go for a mani/pedi, but I want to wait until spring to do that. I don't have the money laying around to do that right now, anyway. Any other ideas?

OOOO , a massage sounds great ! I've never had one but I think a bandiversariy would be a great way to Celebrate , if.... they can get through my baggy, saggy skin !lol ! hey I love wendy's chili too. I eat it almost every day for lunch since it's only a buck. hey i gotta go the weather just turned really nasty and school's out and I've gotta drive 22 miles home. I'll check in tomorrow.

Ive never had a massage, I like the idea, but I think I'd get a little wierded out with someone else massaging my whole body (especially when my fat rolls move with them with every wave of their hand:biggrin:, how SEXY!!) I know its another 'fat' hangup!!!

Unfortunately my first thought went to anniversary cake too!

This needs so more thought!!!

But, holy crap............I have been without carbonated beverages for a YEAR!!! I thought that I was going to DIE without my diet coke. (so did my kids as a matter of fact! No one knew what hit them!! Crystal Lite Rules!!!

My first thought was progress pictures to be honest with you.

At 100 pounds lost I am geting a mani/pedi.

At goal I am getting a tatoo. It is going to be small and on my foot. I am not sure exactly when it will be yet but I want something that pays tribute to the changes in my life.

Ok , I made it home alive last night. How weird , the day started out at 50, then as the cold front moved through we had storms, winds and a small tornado touched down, then...snow and ice in the evening and today the temp. is 19 and we're due for 6 inches of snow tomorrow. All of that happened in like 3 hours !

I am eating my wendy's chili for lunch right now. I would love a tattoo around my ankle, now that they no longer swell up anymore. i tried a henna one in florida and loved how it looked , but I heard that area is really tender and painful - I am such a wimp about that. i would also like to get my nose pierced. i already have 8 holes in each ear( my students think it's cool - parents don't believe them or think it's weird) but no where else yet. I guess it's the musician in me - we tend to be a little different ! I also still like the massage idea, tho' my body looks pretty gross and squishy right now. don't know if I could "bare" it all to a stranger.

I just schedued my 8th fill for Feb. 13th. i am not staying full as long and can eat a little more too. Thus I've come to a stand still for losing. I sooo want to be under 200 lbs. 17 lbs to go ! CRAP ! My bandiversary is the 21st, so I doubt I'll reach that goal but I think we've all done

AWESOME this past year ! Let's keep it up ! C/Ya'll !

Dang girl I am glad you are safe. That crazy shit hit us last night. Went from high forties to about 9 degrees this morning with a wind chill of -10. The wind blew so hard it snapped the 4x4s right in half on 4 panels of my privacy fence.

I feel like I have the plague or something. Feel like total crap. I mean, it just feels like a regular old head cold, but it's zapped every ounce of my energy. Just sitting here typing this, I have to take breaks.... I wasn't sure I'd be able to stay upright for my shower this morning, and it's a good thing it's a shower with a corner seat.

T.G. - It definately sounds like the flu. My neighbors have the same thing. Sever head cold for the parents, children had cold and lasting fever. Dr's said it was flu!!! Take care of yourself, they have been down and out for about 4 days.

Hope you feel better soon

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Seems it would be more compassionate not to perform a WLS on someone until they are mentally ready for it. Unless of course they are on death's door...

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
