I'm not sure what you're referring to when you say "X company" -- do you mean ANY loan company, or a specific loan company? If I take it to mean any loan company, then you don't know anyone who has had a loan with any company?

Search for their names. I'm sure there's a ton of information on them. That's the best way to know about them.

well. actually you are right. I dont know anybody that has use a loan company to pay for their surgery. I was reading that they charge like 50 dlls a month extra because its a "medical loan" or something like that. I think it was "medicredit". I was wondering if all the medical loan companies do the same thing, or just that one. Or if I go to a bank and get a personal loan, would it be the same?

Im really just starting my research, so I have to start from the basic info!!

Thank you!

If it were me, I would start with a personal loan. I *think* they generally have lower interest rates and fewer special fees that medical loans. I would do it first because it's a set payment and I could set it up on my bank's auto pay and forget about it.

My second choice, before a medical loan, would be to put it on a credit card. And then I would xfer that credit balance to a different card that had set interest xfer specials (e.g. many will offer between 3 - 5 percent until the balance is paid in full when you xfer from a different account). I can't imagine a medical loan - or possibly even a personal loan, depending on loaning factors - having that low of an interest rate.

i financed through capitol one credit for medical loans. it is a 10% fixed for 5 years. Much lower than the local "personal loans" and even very competitive with my fixed rate credit cards. However, i have a 763 FICO, so that helped lots. i work in banking, and my bank said this was the best deal, they could not offer better (of course i had to finance $15k).

Bandster, so that 1.9 % for the loan was a really really good deal?

Im going to look at capital 1 too... but i dont have an account with them, and also, I wanted to know if the loan has to be under my name, or It could be under my husbands name?

Typically the loan has to be under the patients name but they willl let your husband cosign .

Hi I'm glad to see this thread. Can anyone that has gotten 100% financing and is willing to tell, please let me know how much your payments are every month. Anything beyond that (ie: % rate, years have to pay) would be great! Thank you!

I was in your shoes.

1st I found the cheapest docs while looking for

the best docs.

I made inquiry and the best doc gave me the cheapest price. Whew!

Location, location, location! Someone can spend more just by getting to their destination. So a flight into LAX and a short drive to SAN (the gas was cheaper than the airfare/even bus fare was cheaper) and the doc's shuttle came to pick me up.

Southwest Airlines was the airline I chose.

So when picking dates, get a date when airfare is cheapest.

Tijuana was cheaper for me.

But for financing...be creative!

I did the research...those w/ even a lower fico can go thru American General or some other HIGH INTEREST company.

I requested a CLI, credit line increase on my overdraft protection thru my credit union. BINGO. I used that line of credit to pay the $7,000 for my surgery. The airfare was $159 RT.

Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
