Hi Everyone

I barely psot any messages, but I am alway reading the post to gain information. I had my first fill 1/4/2008. I eat three meals a day and I know I have not reached restriction with this fill because I am hungry in between and I can eat more than a cup of food at each meal. However, I am restricting myself. If I become hungry between meals, I usually eat a fruit or a 90 calorie granola bar. However, I seen a post that says we should only eat a cup of food at each meal and we shouldn't snack between meals because we will stretch the band. Can anyone respond and let me know about eating a fruit or bar between the meals if I get hungry because I do not want to stretch my band and I am looking for any input. By the way, I love my band and I will do whatever it takes to become a success. Please give me some input my bandster family.

Thanks In Advance,

I am like you...only had one fill but I do have some restriction. yes I can eat more than a cup but not much more and some foods are a no-no. Do I go for greater restriction?

Destiny, I am with you!!! I am running on will power alone and it is not a good situation. If I had more will power then I wouldn't have needed the band in the first place! I am still thinking I need a fill this week however, I don't want to get filled and be too tight. I may sleep on it one more week and see how I am doing then.

Thanks to everyone for your support. I CAN DO THIS!:rolleyes2: (group hug!)

Hi- Different docs say different things with regard to snacking. Talking to a nutritionist may help. I do 6 small -primarily Protein meals a day and take in about 1600 calories. I lose 2-3 lbs a week this way although it has slowed down since I hit -100. Everybody is different and so there are many good eating plans.

As far as good restriction, I think good restriction is when you can lose 1-2 pounds per week without "white knuckling" it. JMHO

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
