Loving the mushies!

Recommended Posts

I had a soft scrambled egg today and i almost fell to the floor and wept with joy. Between the pre-op and the post-op it has been about a month since I ate much of anything. I was full from 1 egg for about 4 hours. Go figure. Breakfast used to a huge bowl of Cereal and toast. It was so nice to just TASTE something that I had to chew.

LOL, I felt the same way about my first creamy Soup after banding (almost a year ago)! I'll never forget that experience... No creamy soup has ever tasted better!

I still have to figure out to cook fish besides deep frying it and baking it with brown sugar/butter/garlic (really good on salmon by the way.

Do you just put in the oven?

I sauteed a piece of really well chopped onion in Pam. Then added a can of Tomato sauce. Let that cook a little while and then placed the tilapia in the pan and covered it for 10 minutes, flipped the fish and cooked it covered for 10 more. You can use that for just about any type of white fish. It stayed moist. This recipe is courtesy of my mom. My sister in law uses the onion/tomato sauce for chicken too.

Tomato sauce and onion are no fat, using the Pam, no fat, fish no fat. Fish had about 50 calories,( about 4 oz) tomato sauce 20, onion and Pam 0.

Between the pre opt phase and the 2 weeks after surgery liquid, I spent 4 weeks on liquid with it more restrictive after the surgery. It was so nice to go to mushies. :)

I went to O'Charleys last night and had some of their potato Soup. I'm sure that it wasn't very good in the calories dept, but I only had about 8 tablespoons. I thought I was going to have to change my draws!!!:)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
