Recommended Posts

Well as of yesterday I am officially a lapbandit!

Got home from hospital this morning and am very sore around my wounds and shoulders and a very sore throat! Also lots of wind pain, that is made feel much better through lots of burping and farting!!

Thank you everyone from the bottom of my heart for your kinds words and support. I will keep everyone updated on my progress.

So far since 1st January I have now lost 10kg!

Take care, Josh.

Glad to hear you came through without too many problems. I was lucky, didn't experience much gas pain. Congrats on the weight loss. I'm at a standstil at the moment, able to eat too much but have my 2nd fill next week. Enjoy the journey and I hope you lose heaps!

Glad you are home and well even though you are a little sore. 10kls in that short of time wow I can only hope. My turn tomorrow morning. Will keep in touch in a couple of days. Morphine usually bombs me out when I have had surgery before so if they give me that I won't be on here for a few days. Hope you keep feeling ok. Keep on farting.< /strong>

Congratulations Josh, glad it all went okay.

If the wind pain gets too bad - I found DeGas (peppermint oil)capsules great.

Saleel - Good luck for tomorrow.

greeneyez!! i am sure you're as uncomfortable as i am, but do you also have this great sense of 'right'. like i know it hurts now but it was the right thing to do? i hope so!

i just made some nice thick chicken Soup - it can still be taken through a straw so i'm gonna have that for dinner later... yum.. but surprisingly NOT hungry..

thanks everyone for your support...

Hey Jess,

Yes, I"m really uncomfortable. When I stand up, I feel like I can't stand straight, I'm like an old lady. I did have a fleeting moment of "what the heck have I done" at 2am this morning, the realisation that this is forever hit me. Now, with a little sleep and some Digesic, I feel a lot more positive. I'm drinking "up and go" - you know the "weetbix" drinks? I've also tried peppermint tea, but it is revolting.

Did take some DeGas, so hope it works. I'm at home on my own (hubby got caught up at work with a major storm), so I want to thank all my buddies on here, you are a godsend!

Jen

Good on you guys, welcome to the banded world! FYI, it's not unusual that you have gained weight, most people do. Something to do with being blown up for the op I think. Someone please clarify this.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
