The Sweetheart Goal!

Recommended Posts

Congratulations Hazeleyegrl!!!!! Whoooooo Hooooooo!!!!!

I haven't been doing so well lately. I definitely haven't been eating like I should and I have a leg injury, so I haven't been exercising either. I go for a fill tomorrow (hopefully they will give me one), so maybe that will help. The scales keep going up and down, I lose and gain the same few pounds, so I hope I will make my goal, but I don't know. Even if I don't, I'm still proud of the weight I have lost.

How about a St. Patty's day challenge? I like the month long challenges!

Sounds good to me, St. Patty's Day and Easter are about a week apart, so it doesn't make a difference to me which one we use. I'm up for anything!

ALSO' date=' SINCE GOAL TIME IS NEARING, SHOULD WE BE CONSIDERING HOW WE'RE GOING TO DO THE EASTER CHALLENGE? HOW MANY DAYS BETWEEN VALENTINES AND EASTER? HOW MUCH WEIGHT SHOULD THE GOAL BE? ETC????? SOMEONE WANNA THINK ABOUT STARTING A NEW THREAD FOR THE NEW EASTER/SPRING CHALLENGE??? [/i']

Okay, if no one else wants to take on the next challenge, I will. I agree with Kimmie, I think St. Patricks Day would be closer to a one month challenge. I have some really great ideas for this challenge, so if ya'll don't mind, I'll take this one on and someone else can pick up the next one! We can do some sort of rotation or something!

do you think you could go ahead and set up the thread for the St Patty's Day thing so that way maybe more people will have time to decide to get involved? I don't see any harm in just preparing the way, but not officially starting it until Feb 15th or so. Just an idea, but by all means, I think its great if different people get involved with planning the challenges/goals! Diversity maybe the key that we all need, I know that different things will work better for some then others, so its great that we have different creative minds putting together stuff! I'm excited about the next challenge/goal!

AND...for those of you still working on the "Sweetheart Goal", DO NOT GIVE UP!!! It can be done, and its just a "goal" so even if you do not make it, you are still better off then where you started out a month ago! KEEP up the Losing!

xoxo, Christie

Yes, I am working on all the details and I will try to post the challenge in the morning. I am really excited about it. I just got a fill today and I am hoping that it will help me get back on track.

I'm still working on the Sweetheart Goal. I really hope I make it!

Go for it Georgia ! Thanks for posting the new challenge, this one I will be focused for ! I go for a fill tonight - #3 - he does 1 cc at a time (SIGH) I suppose it's good that way but I have no patience.

I am so glad I found this thread, I have been kind'of down on myself at the slow progress, I am hoping this fill will kick things up a bit. Also I need to get my ars back to the gym.

Thank-you all for the challenge and the inspiration !!!

Woo Hoo !

Okay, guys..........the scales are up 2 lbs . I had a terrible week last week and I am paying for it. I did get a fill yesterday, so I'm hoping it will help. I don't think I am going to make my goal, but I am on liquids for another day so maybe I will at least get back down to 264. Anyway, I'm still better off than I was when I started. I went ahead and posted my stats on the St. Patty's Day challenge thread. I am definitely going to stay more focused this time.

I made my goal! I can't believe it! On New Years, I was 251. This morning, I weighed in at 235! I have NEVER been below 240 in my entire adult life. AND, to top it off, I forgot my jackets in my car last night (when I carpooled with DH), and I live in the mountains where it's cold. DH gave me one of his jackets...and it fit PERFECTLY! I told him he may never get it back!

This is amazing!

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
