The Sweetheart Goal!

Recommended Posts

i'm stuck at the same weight....but today i've kicked up the exercise a bit since i had slacked off while being sick....and of course, i'm watching my food intake a lil better so hopefully i'll see that scale moving downward again soon. here's what i've eaten so far today:

brkfst: 1 boiled egg = 76 calories

lunch: 1propel Water - 25 calories

dinner: 5 saltine crackers = 60 calories and about 5oz sloppy joe = 200 calories....but i'm just estimating the sloppy joe, i really have no idea on the calorie intake of it....

additional calorie counting drinks = 1 propel= 25 calories

total calorie intake for today:386 calories

again, i only estimated the sloppy joe...i think it was about 5oz, BUT, i have no clue on the calories of it at all. so i could be 100 calories off to my disadvantage, but surely no more then that. either way, i've had less then 500 calories today and i'm proud of me!

i might have to add a snack in there later tonight, but if i do i'll stick to a sugar free Jello or something like that.

xoxo, christie

Hazeleyegrl, I'm glad you're feeling better. I'm not even gonna bother posting my food today. It was not a good day for me. I was out of town and had to eat lunch on the go, so I did fast food today. Anyway, I'm starting back strong tomorrow.

Hazeleye, I know exactly what you mean about the exercise. I haven't done it in so long, I just can't get back in the swing of it. The scales haven't moved for me in a couple of days either.

wooohoooo! i'm down 12lbs for the sweetheart goal! only 2 more lbs til goal! and we still have 13days left! now if i can just KEEP IT UP, then it'll be all good. seems like i was stuck fluctuating between 221.5 and 222 FOREVER, but it was really only like 4 days. i feel better now that i've pushed past that mini-plateau and i realize that it was my lack of exercising and over indulgence on calorie intake that kept me there.

i soooo feel back on track now! even did 1.05 miles on the elliptical today and a lil over 2miles on it yesterday. i plan on heading back towards the elliptical here in a bit tonight and TRYING to attempt my catchup!

i should be at 32miles on the elliptical by today, but since i was sick i got behind and i'm only just under 21 miles....so, about 11 or 12 miles behind, but I WILL CATCH UP! I HAVE TOO! lol.

hope all of you have a great weekend!

xoxo, christie

ps - i learned tonight that a rice krispy (brand name) treat only has 90 calories!!! and that beats the 100 calorie Snacks that are so popular these days! bought them for my son and looked out of curiousity!!! anyhow, just thought i'd share that bit of info bc afterall, 10 calories saved is better then 10 extra calories!

Congrats Hazeleye!!! Whooo hooooo!

The scales didn't move for me today but I only have 3 more pounds to lose, so I'm not getting worried yet! I need some energy, big time. I know I need to exercise, but by the time I do everything I need to do around the house, I'm just too tired. Hopefully my new medications are going to help with that soon. Keep up the good work folks!

ok i'm going for my 5th fill tomorrow.....AND...depressingly...i'm UP 2lbs....however, next week is my TOM so i am HOPING that its just bc of that, and ovulating, etc.....but still...i ate and ate and ate today bc i was sooo hungry and felt like i was practically wide open with lil or no restriction....again....depressing!

i really thought, by the way i was losing weight at the beginning of this challenge that i would've hit the goal by now....i mean, i've been teetering around the 10-12lb weight loss for this goal for what seems like forever now...and then today to have the scale move UPWARDS!!! ugh!

anyhow, i'm glad my 5th fill was scheduled for wednesday, tomorrow bc after weighing this morning, i was in tears!

part of me still just EXPECTS to see another weight loss attempt failure ya know? its like, we've all tried everything else....and everything else has failed us.

i know that i am a long way from where i started at, and thats the only thing that is keeping me going today as far as the lap band is concerned....i'm just praying that tomorrow will be a successful fill. i really thought i had hit that sweet spot...and then after 10lbs came off so easily, it really slowed....and well....ugh! just pray for me!

oh....and not to seem selfish with the above, i guess i need to ask....HOW IS EVERYONE ELSE DOING w/ THE SWEETHEART GOAL???

i really am hoping for the best for everyone...but just so depressed about myself and discouraged right now.

don't mean to sound like the party pooper of the thread. sorry ladies.

Hazeleyegrl, I haven't been doing so hot myself. This has not been a good week for me, and honestly, I haven't weighed since last Saturday, I'm too scared to. I don't know what's wrong with me, I haven't been posting much because I didn't want to bring everyone else down.

I'm not scheduled for another assessment until Feb. 12th. If I get a fill, I will be on liquids for 3 days, so no Valentine's dinner for me. I don't know if I will get a fill or not. I know I'm not at my sweet spot yet. I was trying to hold off on the fills as long as possible, I guess I wanted to prove to myself that I could do this without relying on my band completely, but I think it's time to get one.

I've been able to eat just about anything for the past week and able to eat a lot in volume. Today is the first day I've felt any restriction in the past week. I wonder why it is that some days you can anything and as much as you want, and other days you can hardly eat anything? It's strange. I hope I continue feeling this much restriction, but I'm afraid it's just a freak thing.

I was also hoping to have met the goal by now, but I still think we all have done an excellent job. I'm finding that the closer I get to this goal, the harder it is. Anyway, I know how you're feeling and you're not alone. All we can do is just try to get back on track and get busy. Good luck to everyone!

Hey everyone. I have been doing ok lately I haven't seen anything on the scale though. I really need to get back with exercising. I haven't done so in a few days and I could really tell a difference. I'm going to start back tonight. I have been having fill issues....I went a week ago Thursday and was too tight so I went on Tuesday to get some taken out and they took way too much out so I didn't have any restriction at all. I went back yesterday and they just put a little back in so I still don't have a lot of restriction. Then I go back again on the 21st. I just hope I can stay good and lose the weight....I'm sure getting back with working out will help. Hang in there everyone!!! We can do it!!!

I"m just reading this thread, so I'll catch-up with the easter challenge, since i'm late in the game!
Me too...though I've finally got restriction and have been losing! I was 290 for like 2 months straight! I've increased my cardio, usually hit the gym twice a day. I'm averaging 10-12 times a week at the gym. Completely insane...but I'm motivated for once! :) I stepped on the scale this morning to see 277! Can't even tell you the last time I remember being that weight! It's been a long, long time!

Good luck everyone, ya'll are doing awesome!

Well, I'm still stuck at the same weight. It probably won't begin to move in the right direction until next week. I've had a lot of social functions I've had to go to lately. I went to a bridal shower tonight, didn't do too bad because I saved up all day so I could enjoy. My son is having a birthday party Saturday, so I know I'll be eating some things I shouldn't, but hey, birthdays only come around once a year!

How's everyone else doing?

This is the very first goal that I have set for myself and I'm so thrilled! I hope that all of you are doing well, please update and let me know how each of you are doing with this goal!

The countdown is here, only 4 more days til Valentine's Day!

OK LADIES, 3 MORE DAYS TIL VDAY! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK AND DON'T FORGET TO UPDATE YOUR STATS! I'M ROUTING FOR YOU, IF I CAN DO IT, ANYONE CAN!!!!!

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
