I'm so glad you guys posted this thread!!

I was weighing everyday since being banded. It is just painful given I will avg. the normal 1-2 lbs given my size a week from here on out. I can fluctuate 1-2 lbs based on everything from my period to Constipation to day to day fluctuations.

It gets me so upset not to see improvement that I have decided effective today (my b-day!) that as my gift to myself I will only weigh myself once a week on Tuesday morning first thing in the morning after going to the loo.

I had so desperately wanted to hit 199.x for my b-day that I crawled right on back into bed when I was over 200 today. I want to be able to start not thinking about my weight during the course of the week but focus on eating well and exercising. I think weighing myself once a week should hopefully do the trick!!!

I weigh in daily at the least sometimes more. It makes me stay focused on eating the right foods. I find too that it shows the next day after I have eaten foods too high in sodium, because I will be up a bit the next day with Water gain. I think weighing in once a week has it's positives as well, but in this battle of the bulge I take everyday at a time and find that it works for me when I see some progress even if it is .2 of a lb.

Weighing daily helps keep a close eye on progress, but can really screw with your head. The body naturally will bounce around a bit, and it may not have anything to do with what you're eating.

I prefer a weighted average trending, it gives a clearer view of what's happening. This site gives a clear, readable explanation: Moving averages

I use this tool: https://www.fourmilab.ch/cgi-bin/HackDiet/

Highly recommended. I get my daily weight fix, but focus on the trend line, and that keeps on sliding down even when I see slight daily pops.

This is so funny, I just love the people that weigh every time they get near the scale etc. I do it to, it makes me crazy when I weigh myself, step off the scales then step back on in 5 min. and it has changed. I need a different hobby NOW!!!!

Stephanie my scale is my best friend. I weigh myself about 15 minutes after getting up in the morning. This has proven to be the most accurate weight.

In the evening? Forget about it. I weigh 2-4 pounds more.

I weigh every morning after I go to the bathroom and before my shower.

i dont dare get on it in the evening.Always 1-2 lbs different.

Sometimes I get on (and if I lost)Jump off and back on to make sure

I read it right. I really need to have my family hide it from me and give it back once a week.Sometimes if I get up early like 4am to use the bathroom I will step on it!!!! Its to addictive!!

When I wake up, before I go to bed, before and after a poop, pretty much if I walk past the scale I get on it. lol

ME TOO!!

When I know I'm slowly losing (it comes and goes) I only weigh once a week.. in the beginning I threw my scale out since I wasn't losing much.. then I hit plateaus and TRY not to weigh myself.

Right now I am losing steadily, and my scale is in the kitchen on the way to my bedroom... so anytime I pass, after I poo, after I change clothes, etc.. I weigh. hehe.

Once a week is more than enough for me.

When I was on the diet roller coaster-- lose 20 then gain 10, you know up and down and up and down. For almost 20 yrs. The scale was my master. It controlled my feelings, my outlook, how I treated other people and what I ate. It was very depressing.

Since my band, once a week is my promise to myself. I am a nurse, so I weigh on the same scales at the same time.

Now I'm not on a diet roller coaster and it feels good.

The scales are what we make out of them. evil-vs-good ..

I generally weigh everyday. I was going to cut down to once a week, but I'm too addicted. It motivates me to keep moving. The only time I get depressed is when I have been steadily losing a pound a day or every other day and then the next couple days is nothing or a one-pound gain. It's obsessive and I wish I could quit, but seriously, when I think that I'll be standing nekkie on the scale the following morning, it really makes me think about what food is going into my mouth.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
