Is it possible to have 'sweet spot' without full restriction?

Recommended Posts

Weird question I know but hear me out. I have had 3 fills and although I am eating much less than before, I have never PB'd or come even close.

What I am experiencing is a complete lack of desire for food which is great becuase all cravings are gone and I am finally just eating to fuel my body. I was a typical grazer and binger, so this is a truly unique experience for me. In addition, the weightloss is speeding up.

My Dr will fill every two weeks and I cancelled a fill for this morning becuase I am trying to decided what to do next. Next fill is already scheduled for 1/28

Since things are going well should I stay the course or should I continue toward the 'sweet spot' defined by ability to only eat a few bites per meal?

I am so satisfied with my lack of hunger and cravings that I am on cloud nine.

Firstly congrats on your weight loss so far....and personally I would not have another fill whilst you ae still losing (the general rule of fill providers used to be that don't fill unless you haven't lost for over a month or you've gained even though you're eating the right stuff and exercising) so on that reckoning they shouldn't be giving you any more fill so you have more leverage for the future.

Keep up the great work and I didn't PB for the first 2 years of being banded either.

Are you trying to rub it in? HA... LOL.

Sounds like you're in a very good place and I hope to be there soon. You feel good, no hunger, so sounds like no problem. When ( if) hunger returns, schedule a fill!

Good for you. My next fill is tomorrow. Hope to get exactly where you are right now!

Actually, the sweet spot is not being restricted to where you can't eat very much, your sweet spot is where you're losing 1-2 lbs a week, you're satisfied with the amount of food you can eat, and you're not throwing up (or pb'ing) on a regular basis. Enjoy it! AND know that many people's sweet spot can change as your journey progresses. You might find that sometime in the future, you're hungry all the time, and you stop losing weight. Then it's time for a fill, to find your new sweet spot.

Hope this helps! You're doing great!

THANKS for your words of wisdom!

I know that everyone is different and that the sweet spot can be described in many ways - I really appreciate your thoughts.

Travelgirl- thanks - I have prepared myself that this is a 'flexible' journey and that what works now (food, exercise, #of ccs) may change over time.

This is sweet feeling and I hope it lasts a looooong time.

I LOVE my BAND!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
