Tennessee Bandsters ??

Recommended Posts

I highly recommend the lapband I was banded in December and have lost 50 lbs I choose the band because it is a safer method of weight loss your insides are not rerouted and you lose in a slower way way that why your body has more time to adjust you also do not have to take so much meds like you do with the bypass I take a Multivitamin and viactive daily. I hope this helps good luck with your decision

Hey Jenmomto3 we actually live very close to each other I live off Austin Peay. I am also going to Dr.Woodman , my insurance requires me to complete a six month diet first so I have about three months to go. I work in surgery at Baptist East Hospital so Ihave had the opprotunity to see the procedure first hand. I feel that Dr. Woodman is a very good doctor because I have had a chance to work with him in surgery. So i know you will do fine . Do you know your surgery date yet? Keep in touch with me and let me know how you are doing. It 's good to know I have someone to talk to that lives so close to me.Good luck!!!!:girl_hug:

Why do you think you won't be successful with the band? I think everyone worries that it won't help you like everyone says it does. I got my band almost 2 weeks ago so I am very new to this. So far I feel great and I do have restriction with just the band. Thank goodness!! I haven't been real hungry yet. There have been a couple of days where I was more hungry than others. I know some people don't have restriction until they get a couple of refills, I'm glad I wasn't one of them. I don' t have real good willpower...that's why I weigh what I do.

Hello all! I'm glad everyone is doing well! I am down 30 lbs since beginning the liquid diet on May 12 and down 18lbs since surgery on May 26th! I've lost a total of 37 lbs since January 10, 2006! Yippee! I'm feeling great! I just started this week on solid (soft) foods, and that has been awesome! A month and a half without solid foods is a looong time! It has all been worth it!

Robin, I'm glad you found a doctor that will do your fills! If that doesn't work out, I can give you info on my docotor here in Chattanooga that you can check with.

Glad to hear from you Tennessee Bandsters and future Bandsters! Good luck everyone!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
