I live in Spring Hill, and was banded by Dr Morton also!!! I am having such a hard time with this. I had my first fill on March 7th...and I still feel no restriction. I had way tooooo much to eat last night. Do you think I should call Shauna?

 You might want to call and get another adjustment. I wasn't feeling any restriction either untill I got my 2nd fill and now I am very restricted. Don't get discouraged because when I got my 1st fill I didn't feel anything and lost faith in ever loosing weight I ate like crazy! Call Shauna and tell her what is going on and she will get you in. Don't be afraid to tell her you are overeating. They don't want you to be hungry they are there to help ... so just be honest so they know how much to put in.

Hi, I am going to have surgery soon and am looking for more info. What is "fill"? This may sound like a stupid question, but I am new at this. Thanks for being so honest on this site.

a fill is when they put the saline in through your port. They usually don't put any in during the surgery and then you go back 3 to 4 weeks later and get a "fill" this will help restrict you from eating too much!

Hi all. I am considering lapband, and am looking for info about recovery and long term success. I live in middle TN. I am going to talk Dr. Morton in Nashville.

I think everyone's recovery is different, but I had a simple recovery! I had surgery on Monday and went back to work on Wed. Dr morton and his staff are great!!! They really will help you through anything! I had surgery @ 9:45 and by 12:30 I was walking the halls at Southern Hills, and by 4:00 I was home. Walking around and stretching are the keys to not getting really sore, and recovering better. I did not use the pain meds they gave me, and I really didn't feel much pain...I ate chewable Gas-X like crazy...but no pain meds! Not everyone has an easy recovery, luckily I did.

Night time was the hardest...I didn't get much sleep b/c I couldn't get comfortable the first few nights. It got better and I slept well the 3rd night! Good Luck!

Hi, I had my surgery 2/31/06 by Dr. Willie Melvin at Vanderbilt Hospital. I really like the bedside manner he had and he makes the post op visits fun.

I everybody! I live in Maryville, just about 15 miles s of Knoxville. Seems like most of you are near Nashville. I haven't been banded yet but have started the process. I have had my first DR appt., blood work, upper GI (YUCK), and ultrasound (gall bladder) done. I'm just waiting to hear from insurance now...:paranoid I don't know how long that will take. I work as a TA and hope I can get this done as soon as school is out. That way I would have a couple of weeks before summer school starts. I'm ready to get on with this thing!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
