What Type of Elliptical Do You Own???

Recommended Posts

We spent the day shopping for an Elliptical today and my head is spinning. I'd love to know what type and model you own and what your opinion is of it. Also, if you purchased it recently do you mind sharing where and how much it cost?

Thanks so much!

I spent yesterday looking at them also. The best deal i found was at Sears. They had a Nordic Track on sale for $499.00 that seemed really good. I can't decide if i want to spend that much or if i trust myself to really use it. My husband is afraid that it will become a very expensice clothes rack....

That's exactly my fear! Which Nordic Track did you see for $499?

I'm looking at a Gold's Gym at Walmart that's $478... not many reviews on it, but the ones that are there are all positive.

Sears has three or four different Nordic Tracks ranging from $399 - $899. I just thought that the $499 had enough bells and whistles for me. I think that i am going to bite the bullet and buy it this afternoon. I am really motivated and just cannot find the time to go to the gym except late at night and then i won't go... I am determined to make this work!!

I'll have to go online and check it out... good luck! I hope to bite the bullet on Thursday. I don't have a gym membership so I want to get something for the home.

Well I did it... I went and bought one today. Price was an issue so I ended up getting mine at Walmart. It's a Gold's Gym Crosstrainer 510 and I hope it's decent. I'm anxious to get started... hubby is putting it together as I type.

Ok, well you get what you pay for... this thing is not worth keeping. Guess we're going to drag it back to the store tomorrow. It's wobbly and totally noisy. My husband is an ace at putting things like this together, so I don't think it's user error.

I just got an elliptical and I really like it so far. It's a Nordic Track AudioStrider 800 from Sears for $699. I read tons of reviews from a bunch of websites and this one seemed to have pretty good reviews. The biggest complaint I saw online is that the dumb power cord must be purchased separately. Online for around $20 but Sears had one there for $10. It had a lot of features I thought were important to me...rear flywheel, pedals on the arm and not hanging off the back, adjustable ramp, various programs plus you can plug your MP3 player into the machine because it has built in speakers. Any way...if you're still looking you might want to check it out. I use a Precor elliptical at the gym which I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. But, didn't have thousands of dollars for a pro model like that. I feel safe on my Nordic Track but no, it doesn't feel like the one at the gym. Pro vs. home...never going to be the same.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
