I have a thing about germs. I won't touch a door handle with my bare hands unless I have to. When we go out to eat I use a paper napkin to pick up the salt and pepper . I also will not touch the back chairs or the bottom of chairs, or even the table if we go out to eat. I carry a lot of wipes with me and it even bothers me if I can't get my husband to use them befor he eats. He likes to go by the 10 second rule too and that really gets to me. Lord help me if someone snizzes.

I read magazines backwards. I always start on the last page and work my way up to page 1. I also have to ALWAYS have the middle piece in a new loaf of bread.< /p>

1st>I hate anything with Peanut Butter not sure just can't have anything with peanut butter.. now if I'm given something with peanut butter and I'm not aware of it then I'll eat it.. but as long as I KNOW it has peanut butter i won't eat it..

2nd>I'm a tad messy at home but when it comes to being at the office I'm a neat freak.. all my pencils are sharpened to the exact length, I have 4 pens in the holder 2 black 2 blue, my phone, keyboard and mouse are cleaned daily, my monitor is adjusted perfectly before I leave along with everything around it.. PLUS I spray some fabreze on my chair and rug as I walk out. WHY? no idea no one comes in after I leave!!

I also stack my envelopes by size before I mail them.

I also read magazines from the back to the front.

I used to only turn right when driving and never go on the highway.

I pull my sleeves over my hands when pushing a shopping cart.

and I always seek out the emergency exits whereever I go

This is a fun thread!

I can't put just one fork in the dishwasher becuase it will be lonely. Same with glasses, plates, etc. I will get a clean one from the cabinet just to keep it company next to it. Yeah, I may be crazy. But, I did pass my psych exam for the band, so... only half crazy?

I cant goto sleep or shower without something good being on TV. I have to find something interesting on and then I can watch a bit then turn the TV off. If im going to shower, i just need to know it will be on when i come out of the bathroom.

I know wierd but I have to do it

I fear this could easily become a long list for me lol!

I also stack my mail by length, and read magazines from back to front. I'm also one who needs to have all of my dollar bills facing the same way in my wallet.

But I think my biggest quirks would have to be regarding food. I absolutely HATE food in Water...like when you're doing dishes in the sink and there's little food particles floating around in the water...gross!!...and I refuse to empty out the little strainer that sits in the drain.

And I don't like sharing food if it's been sitting on the plate for awhile. It's fine when the food is fresh and hot at the start of a meal, but if it's been sitting on the plate for 15-20 mins, forget it!

The feel of newspaper or dishes that are clean from the dishwasher give me the heeby-geebies.

I used to think that pulling out my eyelashes and eyebrows was kinda quirky, then I learned it's a disorder so I'm not quite as crazy as I thought I was.

I have to triple check that everything is off in the house before I go to bed or go out, even if I know for a fact that nothing was turned on.

What a great thread  I love these stories!

Angie and BeachBum - YES! I'm a sock hater too. I love the feeling of being barefoot. I can't wait for Spring/Summer!

Gibson - again YES! lol . . . I thought I was the only one afraid of clowns. They give me the heebie-geebies! I don't know why - they are supposed to be funny and all. "Send in the Clowns" - not my way please! :hurray:

This is a great thread.

I absolutely dispise the feel of coconut - can't stand it in or on anything I eat if I know it's there.

my 16 year old daughter is actually more interesting a subject than me. Some of her quirks are:

-if there are several things hanging (like I hang my work ids from the rearview mirror in the car) she will move the cords until they are perfectly even.

-at restaurants she will line up the salt/pepper shakers, napkins, whatever else is on the table.

-silverware has to be set just so - forks with tines up, knives with cutting edge against the fork on the right, spoons to the right of the knife. She does this no matter where we are.

I CANNOT stand to touch icecubes for fear that my hand might "stick" to it - if there is any moisture and you get that "stick/cold feeling" -- sends me into a gross out dance everytime....

I also can't stand to (or watch anyone else) BITE into something cold - popcicles, ice cream - etc...... it literally sets me on edge.

OHHH one more - I can't stand those little advertisements that fall out of magazines - they make me ANGRY - I have to go thru and pull them all out before I can read a magazine (back to FRONT of course).

I could go on but I'll spare you :w00t:

Oh gosh, you just reminded me of another one...WOOD MOUTH!!!

I get violent heebie-jeebies if my mouth touches the wood on a popsicle stick. Oh gosh, I'm cringing and shuddering right now just thinking about it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
