I respect your opinion, but I believe you have blown this way out of proportion

I don't care about anything negative said about Dr. Rodriguez or any other doctor.

What I specifically asked for is documented proof about Wasa claiming that he had one of the highest erosion rates in the industry. I specifically asked her to send it to me or to post it on this forum to give it validity. If it's accurate information, then please by all means post it!

It's very simple. Sorry you don't see that, but I've actually enjoyed "chatting" with other bandsters about this issue. Because it's good to see that just because someone makes a claim, doesn't make it true or fact, on either side.

Good convos.....

I came to a reckoning years ago. And I apologise for being so callous as such.

I was wearing 36" X 36" blue jeans 10 years ago. I quit smoking and started to enlargeing exponentially. I was a hit with the ladies. Period.

I now wear 48" pants, 325 lbs ( and counting ). My reckoning was the eventual truth. A list of the wemen who look at me as sexy would fit on the back of a postage stamp and leave room for the Lords Prayer. A list of the women who look at me in disgust would fill a library.

I'm sorry for being so callous, but you are correct, that is what I'm saying. It's just the truth.

I'll take better care in the future. Your right, there's no need to rub it in on myself or anybody else.

Thanks Cosmos...you Da Man...

I got some information today about a doctor that I could NEVER tell anyone where i got it from . the person would lose their job !!!

did it EVER Cross your mind that people get info from people about doctors that could jeopardize their jobs therefore someone is not going to go Publish it or Sing it from message boards ? Yet people relay info to others to make sure others get SAFE Surgeries ??

MAYBE just MAYBE that would be the case ? But would that be sufficient ?

Probably not ! !!!

?? I dont see how its not relevant ?

And no its not out there.

People who work certain places cant make it known that they tell certain things , they can lose their jobs .

But people do tell certain things because if people are doing things that are dangerous to peoples lives they tell so others do not go places .

THAT IS RELEVANT !!!

It's not relevant because if you're claiming that a surgeon has the highest erosion rate in the industry, then just supply the documentation that supports the claim. It would be public knowledge and so I don't see how someone would get fired for posting documentation that is available for anyone?

This whole post has taken so many turns, I would rather I just stick to the question I raised which is to please provide me with documented proof or post it here for everyone to see. Very simple really

She claimed she got the information from Dr. Rod, which is strange anyway. She doesn't have documented proof yet still makes the claim.

I posted a long time ago about beating the dead horse, I see you're willing to help make sure there's no life left at all

Like I said im not sure how much MORE PROOF you want than that .

But anyone could find a problem w/ any info someone gave them if you did not agree w/ it . So keep on beating that horse tell its dead and gone ..

It wont matter what is said , it wont be satisfying !!

Maybe a bigger stick !!!!

Mindy,

If responding to posts from you and others is beating a dead horse than so be it.

My original post was a simple question. You keep posting various things about (sometimes) my original post so I keep responding.

So I'm beating the dead horse? I'm just responding to posts.

If you want me to quit posting then use your moderator power or just quit responding to my posts so there won't be anything for me to respond to you about.

I personally enjoy chatting with everyone on here, even you. I think it's very interesting how people mis the meaning of posts and or misinterpret things written and have different views about things.

I dont use moderator "Powers" for anything unless someone is doing hard

And you hit the nail on the head, its just that people have different VIEWS it has nothing to do w/ misinterpreting things. they have different views and opinions. It does not mean someone's is RIGHT or WRONG . But they are OPINIONS or VIEWS . I am not angry , pissy ,ect. I am simply trying to point out that info is given to people in different ways. And your wrong in one aspect. In the US info that happens in hospitals , specific patient info is NOT Public info its Private and for anyone to give it out is a violation of HIPPA . So If someone who works in a hospital says " Dont go to Dr So and so they did this to a patient and they died or this happened and ect.." THAT is a violation of HIPPA and someone could get fired for it .

So people risk their jobs by staing certain things about docs . what happens in OR's ect. Its NOT ALL public info . I am simply trying to give different reasons why someone might not give out "sources" of info .

that's all

Mindy

I totally understand about HIPPA. I work in the medical field.

But I also know that we report certain things that happen to our patients to various government agencies, we are required to do so. This information is then made public so that if you wanted to check out a doctor, you could look up the information. It's kind of like a Better Business Bureau. No one could get fired for sharing this information because it's public record.

I agree with you about if it's your opinion, then post that it's your opinion. My beef was that this was being posted as fact, and it was simply just her opinion.

If it's fact, then it's easily backed up and would be beneficial to post it for patients that are researching Lapband Surgeons. If it's an opinion, then it just scares people unnecessarily.

I think you and I are basically saying the same thing, but just going the long way around.

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Seems it would be more compassionate not to perform a WLS on someone until they are mentally ready for it. Unless of course they are on death's door...

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
